Awards Booklet
2023/24
The 2024 GFF Awards
Dear GFF Member University,

We are excited to announce new updates to the criteria for the Graduate Fashion Foundation Awards 2024,
offering wider submission categories and creating better opportunities for a greater number of students.
Following your survey feedback and ideas, we plan to ensure all finalists and member institutions come
away feeling that they have had an unmatched, valuable experience.

The GFF awards have always been an important part of who we are as a Foundation. It allows us to highlight
the very best in graduating talent and to award excellence. Our awards are crucial for attracting industry as
it provides a filter to the talent, ensuring that they are seeing the very best work. The GFF Awards attract
high-level industry talent, coming together to bring expertise and feedback to award finalists.

We look forward to continuing to offer these opportunities to the Class of 2024.

All awards will continue to have a shortlist of 12, offering over 280 upcoming graduates the chance to
compete for awards and gain experience in presenting to industry panels. We will continue the judging days
live on-site during GFW in private interview booths and are pleased to reveal all shortlisted students will be
invited for a full day of industry talks, CV and portfolio reviews with top recruitment agencies, networking,
and judging sessions.

Each day ends with a celebratory early evening drinks event and award show where the daily award winners
will be announced and presented with their trophies. This format allows our student guests and academic
representatives from each participating member university to network with the judges and industry
attending GFW on that day, ensuring a high level of industry interaction. These winners will be announced
daily across the GFW social channels, website and newsletters. It will also be shared with national and
regional media supporting more opportunities for our member universities. GFW can champion more talent,
and help to support more graduates into industry.

The 2024 Graduate Fashion Foundation Awards continue their traditional criteria to be inclusive of the
physical work being delivered once again from our UK member universities. We request a digital submission
for the initial nomination and shortlisting. Shortlisted students will then attend their judging session with
physical work, garments, samples and printed collateral, applicable to their final project. Shortlisted
students can showcase digital work on their computers or iPads, using the screen in each judging booth
for any project that requires a digital presentation.

Please thoroughly read the submission and criteria for all awards with many being updated and streamlined
making it easier for all tutors to nominate. Changes include adding Material Innovation to the Innovation
Award, streamlining the Digital Fashion Award to be solely future digital innovation and design, combining
the Accessories and Footwear Award and adding a brand new award supported by brand partner NEXT,
The Trend Forecasting Award.

We are currently finalising the selection process for Catwalk Awards this year which will be included in the
updated awards booklet at the All Colleges Day in March. However, we can confirm a winner and runner-up
will still be selected per university show. More exciting details to come this spring.

Best Wishes,
The Graduate Fashion Foundation Team

“Graduate Fashion Foundation believe that our students are the industry’s
future. Those with a personal vision who strongly support and focus on the re-
enforcement of a sustainable fashion industry, employ responsible garment
production methods, fair trade and encourage gender & race equality, are
deserving of our support and this has been reflected in our 2024 award criteria.”
