Proposal to Install FCU

1) Objective: - We hereby propose to install Central All-Water System by replacing existing

Split AC Units by Fan Coil Units (perimeter under-window console type), which utilizes
chilled water for cooling. Central all-water systems with fan-coil units use un-ducted
arrangement. Here chilled water is pumped from the central plant through pipes to the fan
coil terminal units placed inside the conditioned space. The room air is re-circulated through
the unit and is cooled by the coil; hence it is proposed to Install FCU for which NPR. 40.00
lacs is and Budgeted and proposed.

2) Background: - At present we have central chillers with a capacity of 1120 TR. In addition to
that, approximately 150 TR of cooling load is being catered by split units. It shall be noted
that, a split unit will possess smaller condenser. In addition to that, they are air cooled.
Because of that, a split unit will not have Coefficient of Performance more than 2.5, whereas
a water-cooled chiller will have a Coefficient of Performance more than 4.76 easily. A central
chilled water system using high efficiency water cooled chillers provide greater energy
efficiency. This difference in Coefficient of Performance values offers potential of huge
savings in HVAC cost resulting in a Poser Saving of Npr 22.56 lacs.

3) Benefits : - Following benefits are considered:

 Power Cost @ 12.61 as Budgeted,

 Run Time of AC is assumed,
 Fan Coils Offer Good Environmental Control,
 Assuming Maintenance Cost to come down, though not calculated.

4) Justification of the Proposal: - This Capex is proposed upgrading current Split units to
Fan Coil Units.
