2) Background: - At present we have central chillers with a capacity of 1120 TR. In addition to
that, approximately 150 TR of cooling load is being catered by split units. It shall be noted
that, a split unit will possess smaller condenser. In addition to that, they are air cooled.
Because of that, a split unit will not have Coefficient of Performance more than 2.5, whereas
a water-cooled chiller will have a Coefficient of Performance more than 4.76 easily. A central
chilled water system using high efficiency water cooled chillers provide greater energy
efficiency. This difference in Coefficient of Performance values offers potential of huge
savings in HVAC cost resulting in a Poser Saving of Npr 22.56 lacs.
4) Justification of the Proposal: - This Capex is proposed upgrading current Split units to
Fan Coil Units.
