19. These pandemics are critically impactful on many aspects of a country and economy is one of the
aspects that are most seriously affected. This essay will look into a couple of reasons why a pandemic

We should talk about the quarantine first. In pandemics, people have a high chance of becoming
infected unless they are thoroughly quarantined, usually at their own home or sometimes at controlled
facilities. These lockdowns prevent people from going to work and although working from home
nowadays is very popular, the are still some jobs that require direct attendance. This results in a
stagnancy in economy as production activities cannot go on normally and if it lingers long enough, the
country will suffer from a variety of problems such as supply chain crisis, price crisis, etc.

Another thing to take into consideration is how a pandemic decreases the work force. Apart from
keeping people inside, pandemics always come with death. Many cannot survive until there is a cure or
vaccine, this includes working people and children, who will eventually join the work force. This leads to
a significant drop in human resources and may also affects the country’s economy in the long run. The
said problem is event more remarkable in countries whose citizens are “aging”, which means there are
more old people and less children born.
