Unit of Competency PROCEDURE IN SHOE POLISHING

General Instruction:

Given the necessary supplies and materials, perform the procedure in

shoe polishing within 15 minutes following industry standards.

You should perform the following activities…

Shoe Polishing

Steps/ Procedure:

1. Remove dust and dirt from the surface of shoes with a shoe cleaner or
damp cloth.
2. Select a shoe polish wax that matches the leather you want to polish.
3. Get one shoe, and use a shine rag to apply a conservative amount
of shoe polish wax to the surface of the leather. Apply in circular
motions until the leather has a dull coating. Get into tight spots.
4. Set it aside. Get the other shoe working on procedures 1 to 3.
5. Brush the dried-up shoe with a shoeshine brush.
6. Apply sole dressing on heels and sole using a shoe polish
liquid. Buff to a gleaming shine with a clean cotton cloth to
finish.
7. Do steps 5 and 6 to the other shoe.
8. Present your work to your trainer for evaluation.
