INTRODUCTION Glass is the name given to all
amorphous bodies that are obtained by
lowering the temperature of a melt
independently of its chemical
composition and the temperature range
of solidification.
The main constituent of Flat
Glass is SiO2. This has a high melting
temperature in the region of 1700
degrees Cand its state at this temp is
like syrup on a very clod day
PREPARATION
It is manufactured by mixing silica with
cerium oxide. It is created by combining
zinc and barium borosilicate. Cerium
oxide, when mixed with silica crook glass
is produced. It is produced ny combing
silica, Potassium Oxide and Barium
Oxide.

Glass is made from natural and

abundant raw materials that are melted
at very high temp to form a new material
PROPERTIES
The main characteristics of glass are
transparency, heat resistance,
pressure and breakage resistance
and chemical resistance. Thermal
conductivity determines the amount
of heat required to flow through the
cross sectional area of the float glass
sample in unit time at a temperature
gradient.
TYPES Annealed glass: it is the simplest and basic form of glass. It is also known

as float glass since it is formed from the annealing stage of the float
process. Annealed Glass is the main product to manufacture various
advanced glass types.
Heat Strengthened Glass: It is a semi-tough glass which is used to
provide extra toughness to resist thermal stress or wind pressure. They
are ideal for use in glass in doors, tub and shower enclosures in building

construction.
Toughened Glass: It is also known as tempered glass and is
tough in nature. When the glass breaks, it forms small

granular chunks like square fragments which are
hazardous and can cause injuries. It is commonly used in
mobile screen guards and fire-resistant doors.
IMPORTANCE
Simple composition, good chemical durability and good
thermal shock properties have made borosilicate glass a
leader in general analytical applications. 96% silica glass
has all the advantageous properties of borosilicate glass
plus excellent thermal shock resistance and high service
temperature characteristics.
Trust is like a glass, once
broken it never be the
same again

no doubt.....
