Peer pressure is the social influence exerted by peers on an individual to conform to

certain behaviors, attitudes, or norms within a group setting. This influence can manifest in

various forms, such as encouragement to participate in activities, adopt specific beliefs, or adhere

to particular fashion trends. Peer pressure is often seen during the adolescence stage of a teenager

because they often seek comfort among their peers and intend to do what their peers does

without knowing if it is good or bad for them.

In today’s world, education competency is inextricably linked to a society’s success. The

ultimate goal of education, according to Deepa & Chamundeswari (2014) , is the best adjustment

of school atmosphere, parental participation, peer interaction, students’ self-evaluation, and

student teacher interaction. The academic achievement is considered as an important matter and

key to have a successful life and the performance during the process will be the basis for the

result of this achievement. If the students prioritize social acceptance over academic success the

possibility to neglect their studies, miss classes, or engage in behaviors that compromise their

ability to learn effectively will be affected. Additionally, involvement in risky behaviors can lead

to disciplinary actions, and decreased motivation.

Gender difference has been indicated, where males are generally shown to be more

susceptible to peer pressure compared to females (Chatterjee et al., 2017; McCoy et al., 2019).

and reduced cognitive functioning, all of which can negatively impact academic achievement.

To be specific, this study will focus to the male criminology students only and the

selected respondent will be based on their demographic profile such as age, year level and birth-

order.
