Need For Speed

If you want to participate in the Mongolian Car Rally, you should have a courage of a warrior,
calmness of a monk and most importantly a need for speed. Its not only an ordinary rally, for me
it’s an escape from reality. Once I am in the car all my worries are gone. I am a free bird ready to
fly.
We reached Altai after a long 17-hour journey which felt like eternity, exhausted and tiered. The
car sat awkwardly and broken on the lorry waiting for its inner beast to be released in the vast
Gobi Desert. One of the main benefits of taking part in a rally is that you explore the world and
test your limit at the same time. Its not only about how good the car is but also your physical
capabilities and mental fortitude. On top of this you also get to meet and interact with new
people with similar interests. I am still in touch with the people I met throughout my journey and
have made many new friends. Lastly, the cherry on top is that if you win the race, there is also a
cash prize and you also might end up famous. For some it can also act as a stress reliever due to
the adrenaline rush, improve coordination and balance and so much more.
But really racing is not all rainbows and sunshine. There are also some downsides to it. The race
can be really tiering and long causing strain on the driver’s body. Its not only physical but also
mental. The driver has to remain calm and prepare themselves for the steep and fast turns.
Talking about the car, even though it is safe with maximum precautions there is always chances
of mis happenings and sometimes even death. To prevent these a few precautions must be taken.
Firstly, and most importantly the driver. During the entirety of the race, I was in a proper padded
suit and was wearing a helmet. Gloves and boots are also important to get a good and
comfortable grip on the wheel and paddle. Secondly the car itself. The suspensions/ shock
absorbers should be high quality, engine should be in perfect condition as it is the main part of
the car and the body should be safe, protected and barred inside for maximum safety. Last but
not the least basic medical supply, maps and transmitter would also be ideal in case of
emergencies.
Overall rally racing is once in a lifetime experience everyone must do, an experience like no
other.
