Precautions

Understanding Phishing, Skimming,

and Credit Card Cloning.
Introduction

Online fraud has become a pervasive threat in today's digital

world.
This presentation aims to educate you about common online
frauds and how to protect yourself.
PHISHING
Phishing is a deceptive technique used by cybercriminals to trick
individuals into revealing personal information.
Examples include fake emails posing as reputable organizations or
institutions.

Recognizing Phishing
Look for spelling and grammar errors in emails.
Check for mismatched URLs in links.
Avoid providing sensitive information via email and verify the
sender's identity.
SKIMMING
Skimming is a physical form of fraud where criminals install devices on
payment terminals to capture card data.
These devices can be found at ATMs, gas pumps, and point-of-sale
terminals.

Preventing Skimming
Inspect card readers for any unusual attachments.
Cover the keypad while entering your PIN.
Use contactless payment methods when possible.
CREDIT CARD CLONING
Credit card cloning involves copying the information from a
legitimate credit card onto a counterfeit card.

Protecting Against Credit Card Cloning

Regularly monitor your bank statements for unauthorized transactions.
Opt for chip-enabled cards instead of magnetic stripe cards.
