Communicative game for unit 8

Name of the game: The Grim Reaper

I. Teaching aids:
- Box
- 2 cards (The Grim Reaper & Hell)

II. Aim:
-Students can learn and get used to the new vocabulary about films or books
(the genre, the characters, the writers,...) by using it to ask and answer questions
relating to the topic.
-Enhancing the communication skills among students.

III. Instruction:
The students will play in 2 teams. Each team takes 1 card from the box
randomly. Which team holds the “The Grim Reaper” card will give one
question, and the team holding the “Hell” card has to answer that question. If
the answer is correct, that team stays the same, if it is wrong, 1 member will
leave the team. The winner is the team with the most members.

IV. Procedure:
-Step 1: The teacher will divide the class into 2 teams
-Step 2: Each team takes turns to take a card from a box that the teacher
gave.
-Step 3:The team that gets “The Grim Reaper” card will ask the team with a
“Hell” card questions relating to the lesson. (The teacher can change the
question if that question is unrelated to the lesson.) If the question is off-topic,
a member of “The Grim Reaper” team has to leave the game.
-Step 4: If the “Hell” team answers right, all the members can stay in the team,
if not, 1 member will leave the team.
-Step 5: After 5 questions, the team with the most members will win.

Feedback: After each question, the teacher should let the students recognize the
wrong grammar and unrelated words, and then the teacher should correct those and
review the vocabulary.
