Options (specific solutions) -> clarify

Future plans – what we will do afterwards

Risk Assessment of solution “work in progress”

Future preventive measures “work in progress”

Beforehand, we have identified

Primary problems – wrong proposition, not innovative (low R&D investment), bad C-level
management decisions

Secondary problems – company layoffs, low morale among employees, low productivity

Solution – Dell’s technology has to become more innovative, more B2B marketing of servers, (because
what keeps them competitive is that they own a B2C marketing strategy) changes in management and
support employees for better company morale (: assure employees about Dell’s changes), broaden
their product portfolio

Part of Future Plans:

So before assessing the availability of the solutions, we have to identify what they are currently doing
well with their business. (SO that this can be continued)

Direct sales: B2C from the website, call centers and etc, This helps build strong relationships with
customers and allow them to gather valued feedback directly, improving their products.

Customization: offers customers to build and configure their computers and other tech based
products based on needs and preferences. this process is facilitated by Dell’s website, offering a user
friendly interface.

Branding and Advertising: dell has a brand reputation, built over years through marketing and
advertising.

Strategic partnerships: Includes what we have discussed in class. (The links with the gaming brand).
Besides, Dell has formed strategic partnerships with other companies in the technology industry, such
as Intel and Microsoft. These partnerships help to strengthen Dell’s brand and provide it attract
potential customers with access to the latest technology and innovations.

Customer service: Dell places a strong emphasis on customer service and support. The company
offers a range of customer support services, including technical support, warranty and repair services,
and online forums and communities where customers can share their experiences and get help from
other customers.

Part of specific solution options:

Here are explanations for the solution options:

1) Innovative Technology strategies

1- Multicloud
Here is a quote said by Whitten, about delivering “the innovations and ecosystem to change the
game”of the multicloud. “So, you’re smartly putting the right workloads in the right places, which
means you have clouds everywhere. On-premises, across multiple public clouds, at the edge and
colocation facilities. You’re increasingly using FinOps to understand trade-offs between speed, cost
and quality in your cloud architecture and investment decisions. And as you optimize, you’re going
after the real price, extracting value from the explosion of data sprawl across your multicloud estate.
“What you need is somebody to make it all work better together to make it multicloud by design, not
by default.”

2- AI

CEO Michael Dell had spoken at an earlier Dell Technologies World session and described AI as being
able to “transform industries and the way we live and work.”

Whitten merely told attendees: “What I know you’re feeling is pressure. Pressure to move faster to
apply generative AI to your private datasets, and to do it all smartly, securely and ethically.”

3- Edge Computing

“How about the edge or as I like to call it the real world?” asked Whitten. “The perfect storm of data
and technology and competition is accelerating innovation at the edge. The problem? The edge is
everywhere. And it’s hard to operate edge infrastructure at scale. Existing models don’t solve the
challenges of running multiple critical and disparate OT workloads operating in remote and harsh
environments operating without skill local IT managing distributed infrastructure and applications and
doing it all securely.”

4- Security

Finally, Whitten described a “fragmented” and “broken” security industry facing huge cyberthreats.
“Distributed work, distributed data, multicloud, the edge: the attack surface has never been bigger.
Unfortunately, the security industry has never been more fragmented or more broken,” he said.
“You’ve been clear: don’t give us more security products. Embed greater security and resiliency into
Dells core solutions. Basically, don’t get into the security industry – change the security of the
technology industry.”

1) Development in Marketing strategies

Here is a link that compares HP and Dell based on their marketing strategies, and from this we can see
what Dell can do more. HP also leverages email marketing campaigns to stay connected with its
audience and provide personalized offers and promotions. Additionally, they invest in search engine
optimization to ensure that their website ranks high in search engine results and drives organic traffic.

2) Support Employees

- they can support by increasing salaries for employees

- due to it being a large company, employees feel like sprawling, so they can learn business
management methods from other large companies

- provide newer products, and continue helping employees learn new skills by constantly opening
classes or workshop sessions.

- reduce layoffs, instead reduce the recruiting population

- reduce long working hours, instead focus on productivity. (Consider how google treats their
employees)

3) Working on Improved reputation through moral activity

(Can reference other companies)

4) Other mechanism introduced in Dell blog

Risk Assessment- I think this section we have to think together, based on what I have researched with
the solutions.

Future preventive measures

These are the announcements Dell technology has introduced:

- Partnerships with Microsoft and Red Hat to extend those companies’ public cloud operating systems
into on-prem cloud.

- Expansion of Dell APEX block and file storage features to public cloud environments.

- Dell APEX Navigator software for data mobility, storage and container management across multicloud
environments.

- Dell APEX Compute for easy scaling of compute resources.

- PC-as-a-service which is essentially an enterprise subscription for the latest and greatest PCs and
peripherals.

- And a collaboration with Databricks to connect on-prem stored Dell data storage to the Databricks
Lakehouse Platform to simplify data access and analysis.
