PURPOSE The purpose of this method statement is to set out minimum requirements for the design, supply, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and hand-over a new water supply reservoir to supply clean water for the coal power plant Block-I in tharparkar district Sindh province 2. SCOPE Reservoir is an open-air storage area (usually formed with earthwork, concrete work) where ‘water is collected and kept in quantity so that there is a continuous supply it may be drawn off” for use. Reservoirs are an important feature of many water supply systems around the world, ‘The water from reservoir must be cleaned before it used. This will be done at water treatment plant once the water is treated it will transferred through pipeline. 3. Install HDPE Geo-membrane Sheet 1.0mm > Proposed Layout: It is recommended that the installer should produce drawings showing placement of liner and seams prior to installation. Any drawings should contain detailed descriptions of all methods of welding and patching the membrane, anchoring details, | seeling at all penetrations and structures as shown on the approved issued to construction drawings. v Delivery and Storage: During delivery and storage periods, the installer needs to protect geo-membrane from mechanical damage, excessive mud & foreign debris. The liner should be placed on a smooth flat surface free of rocks. If required, a sand layer shall be placed in the storage area for added protection. must not damage the membrane or the supporting subgrade surface. All installers must \wear non damaging footwear. It is recommended that the extrusion apparatus shall be equipped with gauges to monitor extrude temperature. ‘Temperature and flow rate shall be varied according to ambient conditions to maintain and demonstrate a consistent acceptable weld. The extruder shall be purged of all heat degraded material or cooled extradite prior to the commencement of each seaming sequence Compensation for thermal contraction of the geo-membrane shall be provided as ary during the liner installation as determined by the approved design. nee’ > Iris recommended that the top and bottom excess overlap shall be removed and the top and bottom edge of the cross seam shall be ground to a smooth transition prior to seaming. If the cross seam is welded by means of fusion apparatus, the cross-seams should be cut back | to the edge of the fusion weld and have a bead of extrusion applied 100 millimeters in all | directions from the confluence of the two seams to form a “T”. Seams should run parallel | to any slopes. x. Quality Control Geo-membrane i. Spark Test: DOCUMENT TITLE: PROJECT No. METHOD STATEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION WATER RESERVOIR | Page Wot 7 [DOG Ne: PRNY-O-MS 002 PROJECT No. PRNV | REV02 [DATE:16March 2024] Scanned with CamScanner Spark testing shall be used for those extrusion seams that are unable to be tested by a vacuum box. > a) The spark test method consists of placing copper wire at the edge or just under the top sheet overlap of the two sheets, prior to extrusion welding. After welding, a spark detector operating at the right volts is run along the weld. If any pinholes are present, a circuit will be completed through the copper wire and the spark detector. This will sound an alarm in the detector alerting the operator to the presence of a defective area, The spark testis typically used for extrusion welded seams where there is no hazard anticipated from a spark and where there is no chance of creating a vacuum seal. > b) Thete is no immediate danger to human or animal life if circuit is made through the spark detector. However, the spark detector should not be used in the presence of water or | excessive moisture 3. Defects & Repair: The Coordinator and/or Superintendent shall conduct an inspection and visually check all seams and non-seam areas of the geo-membrane for defects, holes, blisters and signs of | damage during the installation. All other installation personnel shall at all times be on the lookout for any damaged areas. Damaged areas shall be marked and repaired. | Repair Procedures any portion of the geo-membrane or geo-membrane seam showing a flaw, or having a non-destructive test in non-compliance shall be repaired. Several procedures exist for repair and the decision for the appropriate repair procedure shall be made by Project Superintendent. Procedures available for repair include the following: > a) Paiching used for repairing large holes, tears, and destructive sample locations. All patches shall extend at least 75mm beyond the edges of the defect and all comers of patches shall be rounded. > b) Grinding and Welding — used for repairing sections of extruded seams. > c) Spot Welding or Seaming — used for repairing small tears, pinholes or other minor localized flaws. >) Capping used for repairing length of extrusion or fusion welded seams. ¢) Extrude overlap along the length of fusion welded seams, oa > £) Removal of a seam and replacement with a strip of new material seamed into place. m C”* Concrete with Fibers Fiber-reinforced concrete is used to overcome the difficulty of plain cement concrete which gives very low tensile strength, low ductility strength, and a little strength to cracking. Also in plain cement concrete is a chance of brittle fracture because of the pr ation of micro-cracks present in the concrete that makes poor tensile strength. > Fiber shall be used as recommended by manufacturer. > Before applying concrete process necessary arrangement shall be taken, aX? , DOCUMENT THTEE eae PROUECT a METHOD STATEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION WATER RESERVOIR [Page 11 of 17 DOC No. PENV-0-5-002 PROJECT No. PKNV _| REV.02 [DATE: 16-March-2024 Scanned with CamScanner It will be requested to Engineer to check the work accordance approved drawing.
