Feeding of piglet to maturity stage.

p.k.c is N170 per kg

corn bran is N250 per kg

wheat bran is N240 per kg

soyabeans waste is N80 per kg

Bewerry waste is N 60 per kg

Total = N 897

Number of kind of feeds = 6

Amount per kg

FEEDING OF 30 PIGLETs TO MATURITY STAGE

Age (Month) Feed intake (kg) / (30 Amount

days)
2 0.75 x 30 22.5 x 150 =N3, 375
3 1 x 30 30 x 150 =N4,500
4 1.4 x 30 42 x 150 = N6, 300
5 1.7 x 30 51 x 150 = N7,650
6 1.9 x 30 57 x 150 = 8, 550
7 2.2 x 30 66 x 150 = N9, 900
8 2.4 x 30 72 x 150 = N10, 800
TOTAL= N51, 075

Cost of feeding a piglet is N51, 075

Therefore the cost of feeding 30 piglets to maturity stage is
30 x N51, 075 = N1, 532, 250
Manpower per month = N10, 000 x 8months = N80, 000
Vaccination = N20, 000
Total cost = N1,532, 250 + N80, 000 + N20, 000= N1, 632, 250
The recent price of mature pig is N2000 per kg and the average weight of one
8months well fed pig is 60kg =N2000 x 60 = N120, 000
The sales price for 30 mature pigs = N120,000 x 30 =N3, 600, 000

NOTE: the sows that produced these mature pig will give birth to another set
of piglets after six months in which they are weaned.

7
THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION OF TEN PEN

MATERIALS AMOUNT
Bundle of zinc = 4 x 45, 000 = N180, 000
2 x3 plank 180 x 600 = N108, 000
4inches nail 1 bag
N40, 000
2 X 4 plank N100 x N800 =N80, 000
3 inches nail 1 bag
N40, 000
16 pair of inches 10 x 500 = N5, 000
4 carton of zinc nail 4 x 8 000= N32, 000
10 padlock inches 10 x N1000 = N10, 000
12 bags of cement 12 x N7000 = N84, 000
2 load of sand and granite 40, 000 + 60, 000 = N100, 000
water N10, 000
TOTAL N989, 000
WORKMANSHIP
Bricklayer = N45, 000
Carpenter = N25, 000
Total cost of constructing ten pens = N1, 059, 000
Therefore the capital required to fund 30 piglets to mature pig and the
construction of the pen is N1, 632, 250 + N1, 059, 000 = N2, 691, 250

8
THE CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE
The construction of the building will be completed within one month
preferably.
