I agree with what people have said about reading about the world. I also think listening to or reading film

criticism helps because you realize a view point you may have missed. After awhile you just start to....pickup on
things. It’s also worth just educating yourself on basic themes and lessons people try to convey in stories, usually Any good philosophy books that I could apply

Also worth remembering each person can get different things out of a film. Just because one person read it one

consume a lot of media. movies aren't only influenced by other movies. on top of that, movies do more than
what's seen on a surface level. there's more to parasite besides one family working for another family. there's a r/blankies
lot to that movie and wealth inequality is just one of the themes that makes up parasite.

i regularly try to watch movies that are outside of my comfort zone
Watch YouTube videos, seriously. Most people either won’t admit this or don’t know enough to realize it but a
great director is putting so much more into a film than the majority of viewers realize. There’s a video on TOP POSTS
parasite out there that was 10 minutes full of incredible Insights, none of which I was close to realizing when I
originally watched. Reddit

think the food was overrated when in reality they just don’t have enough knowledge and experience with food
to realize what they are eating. What’s great about movies is the highest quality films are just as accessible as Reddit

I like to read about movies to see what other people have to say about them. I’m not saying that movie critics
should dictate what you watch and don’t watch but reading professional reviews is a good start. You’ll probably
find a critic who pretty consistently has interesting things to say. Also, start to think about how the movie was
made, the different elements of how a film is put together. Not just the story but also the editing, the music, the
cinematography, etc. Ask yourself, how was the story told?
