C. Abstraction

Dancing requires both locomotor and nonlocomotor motions. Combining the

two skills will make the steps and movements more intricate and beautiful.

Locomotor movement is defined as "movements where the body travels

through space from one location to another." According to this definition, this type
of movement primarily involves the use of the feet, but a person can also move
from one location to another using his or her hands in other activities. When
performed, these are skills that cover distance or movement from one location to
another. Locomotor Skills include: Running, Walking, Jumping, Hopping, Leaping,
etc.

Non-locomotor movement is described as "movements that occur in body

parts or the entire body without causing the body to go to another area." However,
some non-locomotor activities can be paired with locomotor movements. Non-
locomotor activities include: Twist, Turn, Shake, Bend, Stretch, etc.

D. Application

Students will be divided into two groups, one for girls and the other for boys.
The students will be provided strips of paper with skills and movements written
on them which they must execute. Following that, one representative from each
group will come to the front and share their thoughts on the activity.

E. Assessment (Dance Presentation)

The students will be divided into four groups. Each group will create a short
dance exercise that incorporates both locomotor and non-locomotor skills. They
will be given 10 minutes to complete the activity.

F. Assignment (Scrapbook Making)

The students will make a scrapbook to demonstrate the distinction between
locomotor and non-locomotor skills. Then, at the bottom of the page, they must
write a reflection paper regarding the task they completed.
