Final Journal Reflection

When completing my Capstone Project, I learned the process of video production and
editing and how to time manage those aspects with my daily life. In terms of my skill set and
what I learnt about myself, my passion for books and videos outweighed others. I enjoyed
capturing glimpses of my life and creating a digital scrapbook of sorts. I can’t wait to rewatch
later.

My project is relevant to me because I love reading and sharing those opinions with
others to try and get more people reading. I also love showing people my personality, as opposed
to just pictures posted on apps like Instagram. My project is relevant to the school because of
how much social media affects all grades. As a school, every club, grad class, sports department,
all uses social media to connect with students. It seems as though; to connect with anyone, you
need social media. Which was my inquiry question as a whole.

The aspects of my project I’m most proud of are a couple videos that stick out to me. My
video titled “a glimpse into my spring break,” was my absolute favourite. I tried to make it feel a
bit nostalgic and cinematic, and I feel like with the montages I chose to include, it captured
exactly what I wanted. Another video I really enjoyed was my first video “going into America
alone for the first time.” I made that video with my best friend, who I’m moving in with in
September for university, and I remember being so proud of the final video, I just sent it to
everyone.

A difficulty I encounter while researching my Capstone project was really just motivation
based. When researching, I was just itching to start, and so when finding references, I definitely
could’ve put more effort into finding them. I was able to overcome those obstacles by setting
aside a time where I just spent my time finding good references and making sure I had a lot of
them.

If there was one thing I could change, I would make sure I didn’t produce videos so
quick, because it felt like I was done my Capstone before I even started and then for all my blog
journal posts I was just trying to get more content so I could make more videos and it was mostly
unsuccessful because of all the videos I had already made.

Advice I would offer future Capstone students is to time manage well when completing
this project and to really make sure you have everything you need completed.
