1.1 Explanation of symbols
These safety instructions are indicated with special symbols:

CAUTION: Danger of injury! This symbol points to the possibility of

endangering people.

ATTENTION: General danger! This symbol indicates an operation that

could cause a damage to the sliding door or the operating
controls.

CAUTION: Direct or indirect danger for life and health caused by electri-
cal energy. Special work only for electricians.

ATTENTION: Special indication to regulation on emergency escape doors.

NOTE: This symbol indicates important instructions.

This symbol calls on for operation.

6 GB 10.2014 | Printed in Germany

1.2 Instructions
Please observe all national guidelines and standards on automatic sliding
doors.

The intended use includes the operating and commissioning conditions

instructed by the manufacturer.

Commissioning, maintenance and servicing should only be carried out by

specialised personnel that has been authorised by the manufacturer or by
trained people who are aware of any possible danger that may occur.
The operating service and maintenance conditions specified by the manu-
facturer are to be observed.

The manufacturer is exempted from any liability for damages caused by

unauthorised alterations of the system.
After professional installation the sliding doors are only to be used for slid-
ing operations. Any other use is not allowed and excludes the liability of the
manufacturer.

The manufacturer has to be informed if constructional alterations (floor,

conditions for air current etc.) at the sliding door area influencing the func-
tion of the construction.

1.2.1 Emergency escape doors

Attention! For emergency escape doors respect national laws and

normatives!

Please observe all safety instructions and warnings.

2. Safety notes
The specified door construction is a secure, high-quality product. This af-
fects the capability, material, functioning and trouble-free operation of the
construction. In order to guarantee safe operation, however, it is essential
that the user behaves in a safety-aware manner. The appropriate notes can
be found in this section.

Warning notes, which relate in particular to individual function sequences

or activities, are to be found in the appropriate positions in these operating
instructions.

2.1 Correct Application

The door construction is intended exclusively for the operation of sliding
doors and may only be installed at the inside of buildings without additional
humidity equipment.

The sliding door is not suitable to be used as a lifting, transportation or

pulling device.

There will be a risk of injury if the equipment is not handled correctly.

The manufacturer will not be liable for damages resulting from incorrect
application; the risk of such applications must be borne entirely by the
operator of the door system.

2.2 Relevant Instructions

In addition to the operating instructions, the generally accepted legal and
otherwise relevant rules relating to accident prevention and to environmen-
tal protection — in the country where the door system is installed — are also
applicable.
The manufacturer is exempted from any liability for damages caused by
unauthorized alterations of the door construction.

8 GB 10.2014 | Printed in Germany

2.2.1 Particular details
Door constructions are to be operated and maintained in such a way that
the safety of the user, maintenance personnel or third party is guaranteed at
all times.

Should any fault occur on the safety devices (i.e. sensors), they may not be
bypassed to maintain the automatic door functions.

The person operating, checking or maintaining door systems must have the
relevant operating instructions present.

Personnel charged with duties on the door system must have read and un-
derstood the operating instructions prior to performing any work.

2.2.2 Risk of crushing or clamping!

If a sliding door is closing or opening in automatic mode, never place
fingers or hands between the moving and fixed parts of the sliding door.
There is a pulling or pushing force of up to 150 Newton. This is enough to
crush fingers, above all of small children, if they do not pay attention.

The opening speed amounts to a maximum of 0.9 m per second, so you

should only approach the sliding door at walking pace.

Always take into consideration the space required around the sliding
doors, so that they can function properly at all times.

In the diagram in chapter „4. Construction of the sliding door“ you can see
the required space „6. Sliding door leaf and hazardous area“ on page 13
shaded grey.

2.2.3 Inscriptions
Additional inscriptions on doors and control devices must be easily legible,
clearly understandable and of durable quality.

If instructions are necessary for assuring the safety of people and for servic-
ing, these instructions must be provided.

9

2.3 Applicable Documents

Please refer also to the system test book which contains a list of checks that
need to be performed during the periodic maintenance.

The system test book belongs to the corresponding door system and
must be available for checks.

2.4 Waste disposal

At the end of product life the door construction has to be depolluted ac-
cordingly to the national guidelines.

Notice! Optionally the door construction is equipped with a lead gel bat-
tery and electronic devices.

It is recommended to have the door construction depolluted by a specialised

company.

2.5 Working on Door Systems

For mounting the drive there must be earth contact connection on buildung
site.

If there is no earth contact connection, the connection must be secured in

accordance with national directives against accidental switching on. The
installation has only be carried out by specialised personnel.
During working on the door construction make sure that the power supply
is disconnected.

It must be protected against mistaken switch-on. The cut-off of the door

construction must be inspected.

If there is any damage at the main connection the power plug must be dis-
connected. The main connection must be changed by specialists.

During power failure some door constructions are feed by a lead gel bat-
tery. Note that the battery is not shorted.

3. Notes on the safe operation of the sliding door

3.1 Characteristics of the control

After a power failure, the control unit initiates an automatic test run:

„„
the sliding door opens and closes at a slow speed

Circulary the control starts a scan to zero point:

„„
the sliding door makes a normal complete opening

„„
the last centimetres the sliding door moves at a slow speed to the end
position

„„
an internal test is proceeded which causes a longer hold open time.

3.2 Safety on the door

There are different methods to avoid danger:

Safety on opening

Prevention of danger with special constructions as:

„„
keeping a distance for safety

„„
leaves for safety

„„
safety glass.

Operation of the safety devices on closing

The door construction is equipped with light barriers or an infrared field.
The light barriers are located in the passage area of the sliding door and the
infrared field on both sides of that area.

As soon as an obstruction or dirt is in the area of the safety devices the door
will remain open.

11
Operating Instructions

GS-100

4.2 Behaviour of the sliding door

Detection on closing
If the automated device encounters an obstacle while closing, it detects it
and reopens.

Detection on opening
If the sliding door hits an object during the opening cycle, the sliding door
immediately stops caused by increased motor current. Once the object has
been removed the door will be ready for operation.

4.3 Operating with no power

Proceed as described in chapter „Operating the sliding door with no power“.

4. Construction of the sliding door

4.1 Illustration of the main elements of a sliding door
The diagram below shows a sample version of the
door construction.

This version can deviate from your door in its appearance. Likewise, the
position of the operating elements shown in the diagram has been selected
at random, and can change from case to case.

11. Customer Service information
11.1 Maintenance
According to national guide lines for “Safety at powered doors for pedes-
trian use“, automatic doors must be tested by an expert for safe operation
before initial commissioning and at least maintenanced there after. Our
Customer Service should commission the construction. This department will
check and maintain the works at least once each year (or more frequently by
special arrangement).
The extent of maintenance work is shown in the system test book.
The inspection results are to be entered into the system test book by the
authorised technician together with date and signature.

Commissioning, maintenance and servicing should only be carried out by

specialised personnel who has been authorised by us. Otherwise the manu-
facturer is exempted from any warranty.

11.2 Wear parts

The manufacturer is exempted from any liability for wear parts like rubbers,
floor guides, rollers, or battery packs. For safety and long-life cycle a check
at regular intervals and as the case may be a change of these components by
original spare parts within the limits of maintenance is necessary. Batteries
should be replaced every 3 years.

11.3 Unauthorised alterations

Damages caused by unauthorised alterations of the system are without
guarantee.
