UNIT 1 SUMMARY

Grammar - Present Simple tense

Affirmative sentences (zd. twierdzące):

I speak English very well, We like tomatoes, You go to school everyday

She buys water everyday, Kamil watches TV very often, My dog barks (szczeka) very loudly

Negative sentences (przeczenia):

I don’t like bananas, You don’t have a sister, They don’t speak Spanish

He doesn’t drive a car, She doesn’t make coffee, My cat doesn’t drink milk

Questions:

Do you speak English? Do they read books often? Do we want to have a coffee?

Does your dog have a favourite toy? Does Ania travel a lot? Does his brother play football?

Wh-questions?

A: Where do you live? B: I live in Łódź.

A: When is your birthday? B: My birthday is on the 1st of May.

A: Which colour do you prefer? Black or white? B: In fact, my favourite colour is pink!

A: What is your favourite food from McDonald’s? B: Drwal, definitely.

A: Who is your sister? B: She is a doctor.

A: With whom do you live? B: I live with my flatmate.

A: Whose bag is that? B: It’s Weronika’s bag.

A: How old are you? B: I am 22 years old.

A: Why do you study English? B: I study English to get a good job.


Adverbs of frequency:

• We always have our classes on Monday and Wednesday at 7PM.

• She often does grammar exercises.

• Michał sometimes has problems with English grammar.

• We usually speak English during our classes.

• He seldom/rarely does his homework.

• Zosia hardly ever knows the answer.

• We never speak French during our classes.

• English class is once/twice/three times a week.

• We watch English series every day/week/month/year/.

Possessive ’s

• My sister’s car is red.
