GRAMMAR: In Arabic, a word can be of one of the three types:


B ‫( اسم‬Noun): Name (Ex: ‫كة‬ َّ َ‫ م‬،‫ )كِّتَاب‬or an attribute (Ex: ‫ مُؤمِّن‬،‫)مُسلِّم‬

C ‫( فِّعل‬Verb): Indicates the action (Ex: ‫صرُوا‬ َ َ ‫ ن‬،‫)فَت َ َح‬


D ‫( َحرف‬Letter): Joins nouns and/or verbs (Ex: َّ‫ إ ِّن‬،َ‫ مَع‬،‫ عَن‬،‫ مِّن‬،َ‫)ل‬

In previous lessons, we took a few nouns and made their plurals. In this lesson, we will learn letters: ( ،‫ ِّمن‬،َ‫ل‬
‫)عَن‬. These three are prepositions. Learn the meanings along with examples given below. These examples are
very useful in remembering the meanings of these letters. In the examples given below.

The Qur’an is for everyone. Let’s start by 1361
asking: Is it for him?

‫ هٰ َذا لَه‬،‫نَعَم‬ ‫أهٰ َذا لَه؟‬ for him ‫لَه‬
َ
‫ هٰ َذا لَهُم‬،‫نَعَم‬ ‫أهٰ َذا لَهُم؟‬ for them ‫لَهُم‬
َ َ‫أَهٰ َذا ل‬
‫ك؟‬ for you َ َ‫ل‬
‫ك‬
‫ هٰ َذا لِّي‬،‫نَعَم‬ for me ‫لِّي‬
ُ َ‫أَهٰ َذا ل‬
‫كم ؟‬ ُ َ‫ل‬
for you all ‫كم‬
‫ هٰ َذا لَنَا‬،‫نَعَم‬ for us ‫لَنَا‬
