The Igbo language hub is an awesome and interactive platform created to teach, explore, share
awesome information and promote Igbo language learning, and its rich heritage. At the hub, we teach
the Igbo language, with amazing and carefully thought-out learning resources and planned
experiences.
The Igbo language hub is also platform to sensitize people on the need to promote the Igbo culture.

WHY THE IGBO LANGUAGE HUB?

The United Nations Educational Cultural and Scientific Organisation’s (UNESCO’s) predicted
that the Igbo language would go extinct by 2050 if nothing is done to save it. According to the
report, the Igbo language is considered as one of the endangered languages. Notable is the
fact that there is an increasing percentage of Igbo parents who do not speak the Igbo
language to their children. Also, Igbo people are increasingly mobile, with short or no visit to
their native villages.

Therefore, there is urgent need for a concerted effort among Igbo people to revive the
culture, and ensure the promotion and sustenance of Igbo language and tradition through
teaching and learning of the language and its cultural values.
Hence, Igbo Language Hub serves to provide a rich platform for the learning and promotion of
the Igbo language. The Igbo language is our cultural identity. Worthy of note, is that a lost
language is a lost culture and a lost identity. Igbo culture is our heritage and pride, and we must
strive strongly to protect it from going extinct.

OUR METHODOLOGY
At the igbo hub, we meddle language, culture
and modern innovative practices to enhance
learning. Rapid development in technology and
the use of cell phones and multimedia devices
have opened endless possibilities to learning the
Igbo language.

Our resource centre is equipped with fun Igbo

learning resources that ranges from books,
worksheets, games, puzzles, flashcards, audio,
and video etc. to give any child the near “native”
experience. Our teachers are seasoned
educators who are trained in the Igbo language
and very acquitted with the Igbo culture.
