1. What are the things that you think could be better in your school and community? List
down five things. You may also interview members of the community or use the data
your individual members have gathered from lesson 1’s Skill Exploration.
2. Choose one of the five things you have listed that you think is of highest priority and
demands immediate action of change.
3. Create a write-up about this problem similar to Change.org petitions.

Thinking Exercise

1. Name instances in the past where social media has kept you informed about the latest news around the
country.

One thing I cannot ignore is that I have been kept notified and educated about the latest news around the
country is when the catastrophe in Marawi happened and when President Duterte declares Martial Law in
Mindanao. With the assistance of social media, I am mindful of the phenomena and the fact that who is
responsible for such vicious acts. Evacuees of Marawi are worried to go back to their residences due to the
Maute group that started the destruction of the fall down of Marawi. But despite the shortcomings that have
happened, Marawi is progressing courage to commence a fresh beginning with the comfort and aid of the
government headed by our President.

2. What is/are the petition(s) you signed using Change.org? why is it important to you?
There are many endeavors in life because we are dwelling in a democratic country where we can
convey what we want to say. Through Change.org we can support many petitions in which we can gain
benefits from it. The petitions I agreed to is to Reduce Standard 8-hour Class Per Day by 2 hours. It is
because as a student it is pertinent to me and significant as well. It is exhausting to go to school. I feel like a
robot required as to what I am going to do. Waking up so early every day to organize yourself. Thus, the
number of hours spent in school should be decreased for students to relax and be free from pressure which
can lead to depression. And there is more than to life than to carry forcefully ourselves in school.

Challenge

Create a blog post how social media has helped families, social workers, and the government in
discerning information during calamities. Differentiate it from the past where information is only provided by
the media (TV, radio, and print).
