Subject: Criminal Matters of Interest: One Accused arrested for Fraud as defined in Section 136(B) Of
the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23

1. On 25 April 2024 at around 1200hrs and at a Police Roadblock,103 km peg along Harare-
Masvingo Highway, Featherstone Munashe Kennedy Banda NR 45-2002387R45 cell 0771015183
of 23 7th Street, Melboreign, Harare was arrested for defrauding an Ecocash Agent of US$150
cash.
2. Circumstances are that on 25 April 2024 at around 1100hrs and at a makeshift Ecocash booth at
Redan Fuel Station, Beatrice the Accused person approached Fadzai Twaya NR 63-1633199Z63
Cell 0788058528 of 394 Beatrice Location, the Ecocash Agent and asked for US$150 cash- out.
3. The Complainant asked the accused person to perform the cash-out transaction of the US$150
he was asking for.
4. The Accused person , using a small black itelmobile phone, generated a fake Ecocash Cash -Out
message bearing US$150 and showed it to the Complainant.The Complainant then gave the
accused person the US$150 cash in the denominations of 5x US$20 notes and 1XUS$50 note.
5. Immediately after the Accused person received the US$150 cash, he drove off in his Silver
Toyota Vits Reg No. AFZ 9933 towards Chivhu, along Harare- Masvingo highway.
6. The Complainant did not receive an Ecocash Cash-out return message authenticating the
transaction allegedly performed by the accused person prompting her to allege that she could
have been defrauded by the Accused person.
7. The Complainant then adviced her workplace companions Ishmael Fourpence NR 29-282165P
18 Cell 0774 621139 of Plot 14 Nebo Farm, Beatrice and Innocent Musademba NR 48-151203 N
48 Cell 0782964497 of Plot 11 Huyuyu, Mutoko of her encounter.
8. The Complainant, using an Nissan NV 300 Reg No. AGI 896 belonging to Ishmeal Fourpence,
pursued the accused person to Chivhu.
9. Ishmeal Fourpence identified the Accused person who was parked by Spar Supermarket Chivhu.
On confronting him, the accused person drove off towards Harare along Harare-Masvingo
Highway with the Complainant in hot pursuit.
10. Th Complainant then notified ZRPolice Featherstone and a RoadBlock was mounted at 103 km
peg Along Harare- Masvingo highway leading to his arrest.
11. Upon the accused person's arrest:
 He was found alone in his Silver Toyota Vits Reg No.AFZ 9933
 He had in his possession a small black itel mobile phone which was used to commit the
offence.
  US$324 cash, including the denominations of the money he allegedly defrauded the
Complainant

12. The case is currently under investigation at ZRPOLICE Featherstone.RRB 58833590 ZR

Comment

Preliminary investigations indicated that the accused persons once performed a same Ecocash Cash-Out
transaction of US$150 at the same scene in February 2024. The accused person allegedly used the same
transaction message to dupe the current Complainant of the same amount.
