ABSTRACT

Jujun Village is the village with the largest area in Keliling Danau District. Since 2021, in Jujun Village a
Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) has been inaugurated, which in principle is a unit tasked with improving
the economy and village income. Since its inauguration, this BUMDes has carried out various activities and
businesses in carrying out its roles and functions. However, at this time it is not yet known how effective the
institutions in BUMDes are, so separate research needs to be carried out regarding this matter. The research was
conducted in March-October 2023 at Jujun Village, Surrounding Lake District, Kerinci Regency. The research
method is qualitative research in the form of field research with data collection methods from interviews, both
regular interviews and in-depth interviews with main sources. The research results to date have collected several
data, including the history and background of the birth of BUMDes in Jujun Village. Apart from that, the general
condition of Jujun Village including socio-economic data has been collected for further analysis. The
institutional effectiveness and public perception studies are still in the stage of further data processing. It is
hoped that this research will be able to formulate the institutional effectiveness of Jujun Village BUMDes in the
context of better management and strengthen the function of BUMDes in managing the village economy.
