BEFORE ARRIVING:
Morning devotions.
Exercise and eat well.
1.
Getting our heart’s orientation right. For whose glory am I now going to preach?

2.
Pray for the clarity, power, poise of the Spirit.
Acknowledge our radical dependency.
3.
Step into the pulpit, or, up to the music stand, and be still for a while.
4.
Have opening lines in our souls.
5.
Be clear about the “map.”
6.
Step forward with our weight fully on the Word and Spirit.
7.
Join Jesus in His preaching! Rest in the fact that He is doing a work in each listen’s life.
8.
End judiciously.
i.e. resist the thought that we “have to make something happen.”
