3.1 Working principle

Figure 3-1 Functional block diagram

3.2 Main characteristic of the module

 Modularization design.
 The friendly man-machine interface. Large screen to show, realize man-machine dialogue operate
really.
 RS-485 interface, realize “4 remote” function with monitor machine.
 High efficiency, ≥90%.
 Lightly and small.
 Function against reverse pour: each module has been added diode against reverse pour at output
terminal.
 LED digital screen, digital calibrate, stable current, fault alarm.
 Output overvoltage protection.
 To prevent the disastrous accident caused by outputting overvoltage to electric consumers, there is
overvoltage protection circuit in the module. After output overvoltage occurs, the module locks up
automatically, the relative module fault indication light is on, the faulty module quits work automatically
and doesn’t affect the normal operation of the entire system.
 Output current limiting protect.
 The output current cannot increase infinitely. The maximum value of the output current of each module
is limited to the rated output current 105%, in this range, the output current value of the module is
continuously adjustable. If the load output of the module, the module will play down the output voltage.
 Output short-circuit protection
When output short circuit, the module draws the output voltage to 0 immediately, limit the short circuit
current below 15%limit current point to protect the module. The module will not be damaged under short
circuit state for a long time, and can go back to work automatically after debugging.

4
Figure 3-2 Output Characteristic

 Module parallel protection

There is parallel protection circuit in each module to ensure when the faulty module quits the system, the
normal work of other modules and the system is not affected.

Figure 3-3 Output of module parallel

 Over-temperature protection
Over-temperature protection is mainly for protecting large power converters, under normal operating
circumstance, the module design leaves enough margin, under special circumstance, when the module
detects that the temperature of the radiator is over 85℃, it will shut down automatically to protect itself.
When the temperature reduces below 75℃, the module will start up automatically.
 Output over-current protection
Because of the limit of the module output power, the output current cannot increase infinitely. In the range,
the output current value of the module is continuously adjustable. If overloaded, the module can reduce
output voltage automatically to make it not surplus the rated output limit point in order to protect the power
components. The overcurrent protection can be resumed automatically.

Chapter 5 Troubleshooting

5.1 General troubleshooting process

The controller will report alarms during the system installation and commissioning, and this is
considered as normal phenomena. The general troubleshooting process enables you to locate the
fault according to the symptom, in order to analyze and clear the fault.
The general troubleshooting process is shown in Figure 5-1.

Start

Read PCU alarm

information

Analyze the module type

of the alarm information

Query operation and

monitoring parameters
according to module type
and find the cause

Locate the
root fault

Replace the faulty part or

change parameter setting

End

Figure 5-1 General troubleshooting process

5.2 Troubleshooting of rectifiers

Rectifier protection
 The rectifier protection can be caused by rectifier AC input over-voltage, under-voltage, and
over-temperature. Confirm the cause according to the fault code.
 Poor ventilation design of the cabinet may well result in the rectifier over-temperature protection.
 Too high ambient temperature of the equipment room may also lead to the rectifier
over-temperature protection.
Rectifier fault
 Output over-voltage or IGBT over current may cause rectifier fault. Powering the rectifier off and
on again to reset the fault.
Rectifier communication interruption
 Incorrect address of rectifier may lead to communication interruption.
 The rectifier addresses must be set continuously from zero.
 Setting the addresses of two different power modules to the same address value will also cause
communication failure with controller.
 Incorrect setting of rectifier type will cause rectifier communication interruption.
 Rectifier poor PE connection or PE disconnected can cause rectifier communication interruption.
 Communication failure may occur to over-loaded rectifiers. When the grounding is good, you can
solve the problem by adding a communication adaptor.

26
Rectifier half-loaded output
 Certain rectifiers are capable of half-loaded output protection upon input phase-failure. Check
the rectifier AC input voltage.
Unable to raise rectifier output voltage to rated voltage.
 Rectifier over-load will cause current limit, which makes the output voltage cannot be adjusted to
the preset voltage.
 Battery current detection fault will cause rectifier current limit, which makes the output voltage
cannot be adjusted to the preset value.

5.3 Troubleshooting of controller

Failing to set controller parameters
 Communication failure between controller and its downstream equipment
 Incorrect configuration
 Parameter value being set outside the setting range
Buzzer failure
 Buzzer fault
 The buzzer is set to Mute in the controller, which silences the buzzer when the fault indicator
turns on.
Failing to transfer to BC mode automatically
 Major faults such as rectifier communication interruption, AC input failure, battery branch
disconnection will trigger the fault protection, in which state there will be no switchover to BC.
 Battery current measurement fault
 Ensure that the battery management is in Auto state, because in Manual state, there will be no
auto-switchover

5.4 Troubleshooting of IMS

Controller display insulation fault
 Generally, there is one DC load grounded. Please find a professional staff to investigate.

5.5 Troubleshooting of AC distribution

AC voltage sampling inaccurate
 Serious distortion of AC power source curves will lead to incorrect AC voltage sampling. (This is
commonly seen in non-power industries such as mining, steel and oil.)
 The fault with controller will make AC voltage sampling incorrect.
AC input circuit breaker trip
 Short circuit at the AC input part could cause the AC input circuit breaker trip.

5.6 Troubleshooting of DC distribution

DC output tripping
 DC output circuit being shorted or over-loaded could cause the branch tripping
Over- or under-voltage alarm due to abnormal bus voltage
 The fault with the DVSB can cause the bus voltage sampling error, and lead to over/under
voltage alarm.
 Improper setting of over- or under-voltage alarm point.

27
Chapter 6 Use environment

1. Work below 2000 meters above sea level.

2. The ambient temperature is not lower than -10℃ and not higher than +40℃. The storage ambient
temperature of the equipment is allowed to be -40℃~+60℃.
3. The maximum relative humidity of the environment does not exceed 90% (ambient temperature 25℃).
4. There is no conductive dust at the operation site, and there is no gas or steam that corrodes metals and
destroys insulation.
5. Used in indoor situations.
6. Special use units that do not meet the above conditions should be put forward when ordering to ensure
that this product can work reliably.
