Iota Psi Chapter of DKG Area 11 Liberty, Harris, Polk & Jefferson Counties Texas. Volume 33 Issue 3 November 13, 2011
From the Office of the President: Hi Sisters, I hope you were as impressed as I was with the BAMC presentation. It is such a wonderful facility and cause. Thanks go out to Joyce Adams for arranging the presenter, Sheryl Reid. She did a wonderful job of presenting this program and enlightening us with the efforts of her fine organization. We respect the soldiers that have put their lives in harms way to save our countrys freedoms. Our chapter made a fine contribution of $ 1040.00 dollars in gift cards to the wounded warriors and their families. We can be very proud of our efforts. I will continue, throughout my term, to collect items for the soldiers, but I will present them to the FAITH organization in Livingston. Thank you to each of you who have contributed over the four years of my biennium to these causes, you have made my Presidents projects worthwhile, and I know they are a blessing to all who have received. We need to be looking for new candidates for our organization. Look at the great teachers that work with you everyday. Invite them to the Auction or the Traveling Annie Program. Let them see us having a great time. We cannot get discouraged when a few quit, we must continue to build our society for the next generation of exceptional teachers. I look forward to seeing everyone at the November meeting. Always, Bobbie
Scholarship/Auction Procedures:
1. Put November 28th on your calendar. 2. While you are shopping this Holiday season, look for a nice item to present for the auction. The item must be valued at twenty dollars. You are not limited to one item for the auction. (I always look for something I would like to receive as a gift from someone) Christmas decorations and home decorations do very well at our auction, but you are fee to bring anything you think will bring a good price. Some examples in the past have been: Old Time Santas, wreaths or table decorations for the yard or home, jewelry, etc. 3. Prepare to spend at least twenty dollars at the auction. If you do not purchase an item, you will need to donate twenty dollars to the fund at the conclusion of the auction. Most of the time there are so many nice items, that you are covered! If you do not attend the auction, please give Lisa Yerby your forty dollars. You can send your auction items ahead of time with another sister along with your twenty dollar donation. It is up to you how you cover your portion of the auction proceeds. 4. Along with the auction item, look for several small items to bring for the silent auction area. You can sign up to win these items at the Silent Auction Table. Normally these items are worth a few dollars. Some examples in the past have been little tea towels, candles, Christmas decorations and ornaments, etc. 5. Invite a friend or bring your spouse to attend. 6. Bring a covered dish to share with the group. We had a sign-up sheet at the last meeting, so if you need to know what you are to bring, please call Doris Rush at 281-5924294 or e-mail her at drush30@att.net . 7. Bring your appetites and your enthusiasm for fun. Youre in for a good time! 8. Bid, Bid, Bid! This is our big fundraiser for the year.

State Convention
This June, we are planning to attend the State Conference in the Los Colinas Convention Center. Los Colinas is located in Irving. The headquarters hotel will be the Omni Mandalay Hotel located on the banks of Lake Carolyn. We would love to have lots of our sisters attend. It looks to be one of the nicest areas we always have lots of fun learning more about our organization and meeting some wonderful, lifelong sisters.
Sister pals
If you did not draw a Sister Pal, get with Bobbie. We should all have a sister that we get to know better. You can send her e-mails and notes of encouragement.

This is the time to begin looking for new members for the sisterhood. Our normal procedure is to collect applications at or before the January Meeting. In February, we discuss the list of candidates. In March, we vote on membership. Then in April, when we dont normally have a meeting, we meet to have a formal orientation for the interested members. We have installation in May at our Founders Program.
