In recent years, there has been a noticeable trend that people tend to migrate from rural areas to urban

areas. This essay will discuss the causes of this phenomenon.

There are several reasons why people nowadays want to change their living places to big cities; one of
the causes is to get more job opportunities and career prospects. In rural areas, inhabitants follow their
traditional professions and work in agriculture. This situation would lead to labor abundance because
agriculture has seasonal traits, and people would have a low income and unemployment. However, if
people migrate to the big cities, they might have more selection in many majors. Another cause is that
big cities have many progressive facilities. For example, Ha Noi is a central site in Viet Nam; it has many
well-known universities. As a result, more people want their children to enroll in these universities to get
more teaching qualifications, so they tend to move there for convenience.

On the other hand, this phenomenon also has many negative effects. Firstly, people who live in big cities
are more suffer from high criminal rates and temptation than people who live in rural areas. Secondly,
the more people want to live in big cities, the more risks of running out of resources. This would lead to
inflation and people might not afford to the costs of living, commuting, and food.

In conclusion, the trend that people migrate from rural to urban areas mainly stems from the demand
for job opportunities and facilities.
