Paper: CA1 2014

1. a) Cost of 6 pens -> 60 – 8 – 8 – 8 = 36

Cost of a pen -> 36 ÷ 6 = 6
b) Cost of a book -> 6 + 8 = 14
Cost of a toy -> 14 x 2 = 28

2. $2518 - $898 = $1620

$1620 ÷ 5 = $324
$324 x 3 = $972
$972 = $970 (nearest ten dollars)

3. $1800 - $400 - $1400

2 unit -> $1400
1 unit -> $700
$700 - $400 = $300
