Building a cardboard Formula 1 car

You all have probably heard of Formula 1 cars, their lightning speed and excellent
handling, but have you ever built one? Well, let’s have a look at how to make a model F1 car.
First gather these materials:
i) Cardboard (3 sheets 35cm x 20cm) iii) Glue v) 3 A4 Colored paper

ii) Markers iv) Scissors vi) Ruler

After collecting all these materials, you can begin your journey.
Step 1: Building the base.
Before cutting the base, I would recommend to first draw an image of what you are going to cut.
This would make it easier for you as even if something goes wrong, you can aways erase it. This
not only applies for this step, but for everything that we are going to cut during this project. Let’s
start by cutting the nose of the car. The nose should be about 15cm wide and 10 cm long. The car
(including the nose) should measure around 30 cm long. The width of the car should be 15 cm
from the midpoint, where the line in the photograph has been drawn.
Step 2: Side Panels.
Cut one-inch-tall rectangles for the body panels from cardboard to cover the side of the car,
excluding the nose. These should be long enough to wrap around the sides.
Step 3: Tires.
Cut out cardboard tires that are 4.5 cm in diameter and 3 cm in width. Attach them to pencils,
long enough not to stick out the car, that run through the end of the car and the middle part of the
nose.
Step 4: Design
Cover the top with a piece of cardboard, 13 cm in width and 16 cm in length, and the nose with a
sheet of paper big enough to cover the whole thing. And don't forget, this is where you can
design your car just like your favorite F1 team!
Step 5: Adding the depth.
Next, make a smaller piece of the roof (shown in the photograph). This roof should be about 2cm
less wide than the one you made earlier but the same in length. Attach it onto the top that you
placed earlier.
Step 6: Air Intake.
Cut a cardboard trapezium 7cm high. The longer side should be 9 cm and the shorter one should
be 4cm. Bend it to make it look like an air intake. Attach it to the top and cover it with paper.
Step 7: The wing.
Last but not least, let's add the wing! Cut two cardboard pillars, 1cm wide and 4cm long, and
attach them to the end of the car's side panels. Cut out another large cardboard rectangle longer
than the car by about 2 cm (15+2=17 cm) and about 2 cm wide. This will be your wing. Attach
the wing onto the pillars, and our cardboard masterpiece is complete!
