Executive Summary
Introduction:
The study had completed 4 months of internship (30th January 2023 to 30th may 2023) in
Radisson Blu resort Visakhapatnam. As it is an observational internship, the study had worked for two
departments i.e Sales & marketing for 2 months and human resources for 2 months.
During the internship in the sales and marketing department, the study was exposed to a diverse
range of responsibilities and tasks that allowed to understand the fundamentals of driving business
growth through effective sales and marketing techniques.
In this report, the study will provide an overview of the organization, outlining its industry and
target market and the activities participated in sales and marketing, such as market research, lead
generation, customer relationship management. Furthermore, the study will discuss the challenges
encountered during the internship, the strategies employed to overcome them, and the valuable lessons
learned in the process.
Throughout the internship, the study gained valuable insights into consumer behaviour, market
trends, and competitive analysis. The study had the opportunity to develop and implement marketing
campaigns, monitor their performance, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Additionally, I actively contributed to the sales process, including prospecting, customer acquisition etc.
The report will also highlight the achievements and outcomes of the contributions, including
measurable results such as increased sales figures, improved customer satisfaction, and enhanced brand
recognition. These achievements demonstrate the study to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world
scenarios and make a tangible impact within the sales and marketing department.
The non-technical skills gained during this internship was, communication skills, dealing to the
costumers over phone, mails and direct interaction which results in building my confidence.
The technical skills during this internship were excel sheets, the software of the department
(Touché) for booking the banquet halls and the room in the hotel and the marketing skills like digital
marketing.
Human Resources
The next 2 months the study had been shifted to the Human Resources department. The HRM is
widening with every passing day. It covers but is not limited to HR planning, hiring (recruitment and

grievance handling, legal procedures etc.
The HRM is widening with every passing day. It covers but is not limited to HR planning, hiring

Industrial relations, grievance handling, legal procedures etc
The internship had acknowledged us with all the Hr activities and policies which are currently
taking place in the organisation. This internship has provided hands on experience on Human Resource
activities and helped us in bringing out our own perspective, as well as our specialized
strengths and skill sets
HR is also responsible for managing employee relations, including conflict resolution, addressing
grievances, and maintaining a harmonious work environment. They ensure compliance with labor laws
and regulations, maintain accurate employee records, and handle sensitive information related to payroll,
benefits, and confidentiality.
In addition, HR professionals play a strategic role in organizational planning and decision making.
They collaborate with management to identify HR needs, develop workforce plans, and implement
strategies to attract and retain top talent.
As Hr intern, we took active participation in conducting team building activities on fun Friday’s
which enhances employee engagement. We got to know the compensation management (pay roll system)
of Radisson Blu resort.
The technical and non-technical skills gained during internship includes communication skills,
managing the employees, organizational skills and excel sheets.
The entire duration of the HR internship was a great learning experience. The study has provided
us with deeper insights of the HR department and its work culture.
Need for the study:
As an intern task performed during the internship in Hr department made the works quicker and
timelier, study includes handling a vast array of tasks from recruiting new employees, conducting
interviews, dealing with conflict resolution, and managing the holiday allowance, benefits, handling the
files and arrangements of the files results in reduction of work for the employees.
Handling the events, drafting mails to the customer, collecting the queries from the guests

Outcomes achieved
HOSPITALITY SECTOR
The hospitality industry is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs and expectations of consumers.
One trend that has emerged in recent years is the demand for more personalized experiences, with hotels
and restaurants offering customized services and amenities tailored to each guest's preferences. Another
trend is the rise of experiential travel, where travellers seek out unique and immersive experiences that
allow them to connect with local cultures and communities. The industry is also focused on sustainability,
with many hotels and restaurants implementing eco-friendly practices such as reducing waste, conserving
energy, and using locally-sourced ingredients. Additionally, the use of technology is becoming increasingly
important in the hospitality industry, with hotels and restaurants implementing new tools such as virtual
concierges and mobile check-in to provide a more seamless and convenient experience for guests. Despite
the challenges facing the industry, the hospitality sector is constantly innovating to provide exceptional
experiences for travellers and diners alike.
Market size
The Indian hospitality industry, spearheaded by the hotel market, has emerged as one of the primary
sectors which are driving the economic growth of the country. In India, hotels are classified based on
location (city hotels, airport motels, resorts, etc.), level of service (upscale, mid-market, and economy),
and themes (boutique hotels, heritage hotels, etc.).
The hotel industry in India is expected to reach a value of INR 1,210.87 Bn by the end of 2023,
expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of ~13% during the 2018-2023 period, owing to
the high arrival rate of foreign tourists and business delegates. In 2018, the major hotel brands operating
in India were Marriott International, The Indian Hotels Company Limited (including brand Ginger),
Radisson Hotel Group, ITC Hotels, Accor Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, Sarovar Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels
Group, Lemon Tree Hotels, and Oberoi Hotels & Resorts. The occupancy rate (percentage of days for
which rooms are booked in a given period) of the major hotels in India increased at a rate of ~65%
between FY 2017 and FY 2018, due to increased demand from business and leisure travelers, and a
slowdown in the addition of new hotel rooms across the country.
Government’s Role Towards the Development of the hospitality industry
G20 Meetings and Events: Indirectly Contributing to the Growth of the Hospitality Industry in India
G20 meetings and events attract many international delegates, including heads of state, policymakers,
and business leaders. This allows India to showcase its hospitality infrastructure, cultural heritage, and
tourist attractions to a global audience. If the visitors have a good experience, they may be more likely to
return for business or leisure travel in the future, which can lead to increased demand for
hospitality services.
Government's Simplified Visa Procedures Set to Boost Tourism and Revenue for Indian Hospitality
Industry. The government has simplified visa procedures for tourists from several countries to make
visiting India easier. This would help increase the number of tourists visiting India and generate more
revenue for the hospitality industry.
Revolutionizing the Hospitality Industry: Government of India's 5G Initiative is Set to Transform the
Guest Experience. The 5G initiative by the Government of India can also help the hospitality industry tap
into new revenue streams, such as the rapidly growing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and
Exhibitions (MICE) segment. With high-speed connectivity and the ability to support large volumes of
data, 5G technology can help facilitate the growth of the MICE segment by enabling hotels to offer
innovative services such as virtual events and conferences.

employee records up to date and accurate.
We as Human Resource department interns assisted in organizing team building activities, internal HR
events, company’s social and networking events. Some of the events we assisted includes town hall
meetings every month, Ugadi event, fun Fridays etc.
• Confidentiality and Privacy Concerns: HR departments deal with sensitive employee information
and confidential matters. As an intern, we have limited access to certain confidential information due
to privacy regulations and the need to maintain trust and confidentiality.
• Limited Exposure to Different HR Functions: Due to the nature of the internship being focused on
a resort, we may primarily be exposed to HR functions and activities specific to the hospitality
industry.
• Seasonal Nature of the Industry: Resorts often experience peak seasons with increased business
activity followed by slower periods. As an intern, exposure and involvement in HR initiatives may
vary depending on the season. During peak seasons, the HR team may be more occupied with day-to-
day operations, leaving fewer opportunities for intern involvement.
• Customer reviews and reputation management: Online review platforms and social media have
given customers a powerful voice in shaping a hospitality business's reputation. Negative reviews or
poor customer experiences can quickly spread and impact sales. Managing online reputation and
addressing customer concerns effectively is crucial for the sales and marketing team.
• Intense competition: competitiveness can make it difficult for sales and marketing departments to
stand out from the competition and attract customers. It requires strategic marketing efforts and a
thorough understanding of the target market to differentiate the business effectively.

Zippia's data science team found the following key financial metrics.
Radisson Hotels International Inc has 17,800 employees, and the revenue per employee ratio is $101,123.
Radisson Hotels International Inc peak revenue was $1.8B in 2022.
Radisson blu resort, Visakhapatnam annual profit is 50 crores. The average profits per month is around

Hospitality will always be centred around customer experiences and connecting with people. Even as new
technology, evolving customer preferences, and new competitive threats change the hotel experience,
outstanding hospitality will still require a thoughtful human touch.
The hotel of the future will be an integrator with a new role to play: offering guests a memorable hotel
experience uniquely tailored to their expectations for every stay.
Hotel industry trends and future focus:
Talking about trends, trying to predict them, and attempting to foresee the future is very much a trend in
itself. The future of the hotel and hospitality industries is a hot topic and the paths to success are potentially
many.
In general terms, hotel industry trends or hospitality trends generally look at new consumer behaviour, new
technology, and the new business theories that are powered largely by the former two factors.
Sometimes though, the more things change the more they stay the same. Of course, in the next five to 10
years much might change within the hotel industry, but we wouldn’t expect the core values of hospitality
to deviate. In fact, they’ll probably become even more important.
One thing for sure is that generic or impersonal hotel companies will struggle to survive in the future. Your
hotel must have a personality that connects to both existing and prospective guests. It’s a vital ingredient
for travellers who are looking for a unique travel experience. Obviously this personality must be conveyed
via your staff and the property itself. Every hotel room and human interaction should reflect what your
brand represents. You can make many interior design and decorating statements to support your message.
This personality should also permeate your online presence.
Hotel trends
Let’s think about the physical and philosophical nature of hotels and how they might be changing.
Here’s a list of some commonly heard initiatives that are increasing in their application around the world.
Smart hotels
Incorporating the Internet of Things (IoT) into a property is something that excites guests. It offers them a
high level of convenience and efficiency, and also a sense of luxury. People are starting to incorporate tech
like this in their own homes so the demand for it in hotels is sure to increase.
Sustainable hotels
Robot staff
Some travellers may find it confronting to be served by a robot, others may welcome the chance not to
have to interact with humans when staying at their hotel. More and more hotels are using robots in some
capacity, to help automate check-in and check-out, carry luggage and acts as concierges, or for room
service.
These technologies are no longer the niche segments they once were. Extremely popular already in gaming
and entertainment as well as attractions, they can also be quite useful to hotel customers. Virtual reality
replaces the real world with visual and audio input while augmented reality layers virtual elements onto
the real world. Customers who want to try before they buy can take virtual tours of your property and even
parts of the destination. With AR, a hotel might use something like an interactive map to provide
information to guests.
Many hotels are now starting to differentiate their brand by doing something unique with the way they
design, layout, or outfit their property. Travellers are looking more and more for cool, experiential hotel
stays so anything a hotel can do to provide a novelty factor is going to be at an advantage.
All of these trends are influenced and informed by greater societal trends. This is why it’s so important for
hoteliers to look at shifting away from the traditional and embrace the radical if they want to maintain a
healthy business. There’ll always be a place for good old-fashioned hospitality but the way it’s delivered
probably will need to alter.
