The International Institute of

Tropical Agriculture (IITA), in collaboration with the Agricultural Value Chain Development
Project (AVC_DP), and in consultation with the African Development Bank (AfDB), has worked
on a stipend package as a contribution to support the Aspiring Agripreneurs (AAs) selected under
the ENABLE Youth program of AVC_DP (EYC). The said stipend package will be applied for
this third cohort, with effect from 15th January 2024 for a 9 months’ incubation program.
This incubation program requires physical presence throughout in the Youth Agri-Business
Incubation Centers (YABICs) . The present notice serves as an official communication to each
aspiring Agripreneur (AA) selected for this third cohort, with acceptance response expected
latest by the 8th of January 2024. Admission to the respective YABICs will be accepted only up
to the 22nd of January 2024. Payment of the stipend will be conditional to regular participation in
the activities of the Youth Agri-Business Incubation Center (YABIC) unless a strong written
rationale is provided and approved by both the YABIC coordinator and the EYC coordinator.
Unapproved absence will result in the cancellation of the stipend for the month. YABIC
coordinators will have to report the daily participation of every aspiring Agripreneur to the YABIC
activities by the 25th of each month. Monthly stipends will be paid upfront, latest by the 10th day
of each month.

STIPEND PACKAGE:
❖ General information
▪ Insurance: 5990 CFA. The insurance is limited to the following areas:
ambulatory and hospital care, outpatient pharmaceutical costs, dentistry,
medical and surgical hospitalization, medical optics and funeral expenses.
Important to note, the insurance do not cover private hospitals. (more
details will be given to the Agripreneurs in due course)
▪ Individual accident insurance: 210 CFA. This guarantees the payment of
the insured capital to the beneficiaries in the event of accidental death or
total or partial disability following an accident.
▪ Accommodation, feeding and incidentals: 55 160 CFA [The allocation of
the amount for the aspiring agripreneurs of Nkongsamba is detailed below].

To be paid to the provider of the catering services,
who will have signed an agreement with IITA. The

aspiring agripreneurs will monitor and evaluate the
effective use of the funds to feed agripreneurs.
To be paid directly to the agripreneurs in his personal
bank account, latest on the 10th of each month, when

❖ IITA will cover the cost of the monthly transfer of the funds.

MECHANISM OF PAYMENT:
The Aspiring Agripreneurs will be paid their stipend directly through their bank account. They
will be asked at the beginning of their incubation period to provide their bank account references
(RIB) where their stipend would be transferred on a monthly basis.

CASES OF SUSPENSION OR REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM OF THE STIPEND:


❖ In the case of poor performance, non-compliance with the regulations of the incubation
center or bad behavior of an Agripreneur, the payment of his/her stipend might be
temporarily suspended or cancelled. In the case of recurrence, a permanent exclusion from
the program would be considered.

❖ It should be noted that the unapproved absence of an AA from their incubation center will
automatically result in the cancellation of their stipend for the month in question.
