Alleppey Beach : Alleppey Beach is a popular picnic spot. The 140 year old pier
which extends to the sea is a major attraction in this beach. The Vijaya beach
park situated nearby provides ente
toy trains. Boating also available in this park. Recently launched Para motoring
along with Alleppey beach is an added attraction to visitors

Lighthouse : The lighthouse is located along the beach. The lighthouse is 150
years old and the lamp of the lighthouse is lighted in 1862. The view from its
top - the beach, endless sea and part of Alleppey town is fabulous.

Revi Karunakaran Museum : Ravi Karunakaran Museum - built in the name


of famous coir Industrialist from Kerala, displays beautiful artefacts collected
from different parts of the world and Swarovski crystals. The artefacts includes
collections from different parts of the World.

The ivory and crystal collections in this museum are one of the largest of its kind.
The museum has an exhibition area of 10,000 sq.ft. The museum has good
collection of admire paintings, especially that of renowned Tanjore paintings.

International Coir Museum : Alleppey is the trade center of coir industry in


Kerala. International Coir Museum is the first of its kind in the World and provide
a vast range of information on the various milestones of the Coir Industry in
Kerala.

the coir industry in Kerala. A souvenir shop attached to the Museum where
visitors can have shopping wide range of coir handicrafts.

Ambalappuzha Sree Krishna Temple: This is one of the oldest temples in


Kerala established during 15-17 AD by the ruler of Chempakasserry Sri Devi
Narayanan.

This temple is known for its unique prasadam pal payasam a sweet pudding
made from rice and milk. Paintings of Dashavatharam in the inner walls of the
Chuttambalam are special attraction. Ambalapuzha Arattu is the main festival
celebrated during March-April every year.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race : The water festival in Kuttanad is unique. No other
country in the world has this festivity. The Nehru trophy boat race is a very
populat boat race held at Punnamada Lake, Alappuzha. The competition of
Snake Boats is a most popular event of the race. The race is held during Onam
festival every year.

The celebrations in this even include folk dance performances along with loud
drum beats and songs that harmonise and encourage the oarsmen and spectators
into frenzy and promote a thrilling sensation in the entire race.

Kettuvallam (Houseboat) :

Kettuvallam (houseboat) is a stitched boat, which are 80 feet long, made with
planks of jack-wood, joined and stitched together with coir ropes and painted on
the outside with cashew nut shell oil or fish oil. Not even a single nail is used
during the construction of the boat. A portion of the houseboat is covered with
bamboo and coir. Houseboats are major attraction of backwater tourism in
Alleppey area. A ride in the Houseboat is an excellent opportunity to explore the
beauty of backwaters.

The nearest railway station is Alappuzha. All important Express Trains has stop
here.

Holiday Home bungalow is 19 KMs from Alappuzha railway station and 78 KMs
from Ernakulam South Railway Station.

Road : Alleppey lies on the Panvel-Kanyakumari Highway and is well connected


by Road. It takes 1 Hr, 45 minutes from Kochi and 4 hours, 30 minutes from
Thiruvananthapuram.
