I chose the picture of a beautiful woman wearing an elegant dress that expresses an Aesthetic

Hedonism. For me, the picture shows the beauty of a woman or value that can be defined in
terms of pleasure. We can say it is aesthetic if it shows a particular taste for or approved to
what is pleasing to the senses, especially the sense of sights.

The composition 4’33” (Four Minutes and Thirty-three seconds) by John Cage is a piece in which
the performers remain utterly silent onstage for that amount of time. While watching the
video, I noticed the word “TACET” being flashed on the screen. It is a Latin word which means in
English as “is silent”. It is a musical term to indicate that an instrument or voice does not
sound, also known as rest.

For me, I considered the composition of John Cage as based on the Institutional Theory in Music
because it follows a certain rules, schemes, norms and routines while being performed. The
conductor is making hand signals while the performers continue to be silent. With the word
“Tacet” being flashed on the screen, the audience can immediately understand that it is the
way to be performed and can watch to the performance until the end.
