Add an Authorization Code

Authorization Codes are used to control access to long-distance calling. When this service is configured, certain calls
require the caller to enter an Authorization code and possibly a PIN. Authorization codes are used as follows.

The caller calls an access number (typically a toll-free number).

They get an announcement or a tone.
The caller dials their Authorization Code.
The caller may then have to enter a PIN.
If the Authorization Code (plus PIN if required) is accepted, the caller dials the required number.
The call is connected to the required number.

Your MetaSphere CFS may be configured to have an Authorization Code for each long distance subscriber or for a
group of subscribers.
Authorization codes differ from Account Codes (see Adding Long Distance Account Codes
(https://communities.metaswitch.com/docs/DOC-346129)) in that with authorization codes the caller dials an access
number, then the authorization code and then the required number. With Account codes the caller dials the required
number and then enters the account code. Authorization codes can also be used with PINs, which is not an option for
account codes.
This procedure assumes that your Translations have already been set up to invoke Authorization Codes on the required
calls. For more information about this, see Authorization Codes (https://communities.metaswitch.com/docs/DOC-
30723). Therefore all you need to do is add the appropriate Authorization Code.

Access Required

This procedure involves adding and changing objects in the Subscribers object category in the MetaView Explorer
object tree. You will therefore need access to this area of the configuration.

Information Required

Before commencing this procedure you will need the following information.

The Authorization Code table that will contain the Authorization Code. Each Authorization Code Table
represents a group of accepted codes. There may be multiple Authorization Code tables, for example if different
access numbers have different sets of Authorization codes.
The Authorization Code to add. All Codes in an Authorization Code Table are the same length, so the length of
the new code must match the length configured on the Authorization Code Table
The PIN for the Authorization Code, if required. The Authorization Code Table defines whether a PIN is required
for the Authorization Codes in that Table.
The Long Distance Service Class for the Authorization Code. The Long Distance Service Class object defines
Line Class Codes for the call. Line Class Codes can be used in Translations to control the features applied to
the call, for example, how to route the call. This Long Distance Service Class object must already exist.

Note that this procedure does not cover non-mandatory fields, such as setting the prompts, because these are not
required to add an Authorization Code. If you need to set any non-mandatory values, you should fill them in as you go
through the procedure. All non-mandatory fields can also be changed after completing the procedure. Feedback

Procedure

Step 1: Find the Authorization Code Table object

In this step you will find the Authorization Code Table in which you will add the Authorization code. This Table must
already exist. You will first need to find the relevant Call Feature Server object. How you do this depends on your
deployment type, as follows.

For a MetaSphere CFS in a non-Clustered CFS deployment, do the following.

In the MetaView Explorer object tree, select and expand the "All managed components" object in the tree.
Find the Network Element Connection object that identifies your CFS / IS.
Expand this to show the CFS or IS object below this Connection.
Expand this to show the Call Feature Server object.
For a Clustered CFS deployment, do the following.
In the MetaView Explorer shared object tree, select and expand "All managed components", then the
Connection object corresponding to your Clustered CFS deployment, then the "Shared Call Feature
Server config" object to show its child Call Feature Server object.
Select and expand the Call Feature Server-> Long Distance Service Configuration -> Authorization Code Tables
object.
Select the required Authorization Code Table.

Step 2: Add the Authorization Code object

In this step you will add the Authorization Code object to the Authorization Code table.

Use the add sub-component button to add a new Authorization Code object.
Set the Authorization Code field.
Set the PIN field if a PIN is required.
Set the Long Distance Service Class field. This field will be filled in automatically if there is only one Long
Distance Service Class.
Use the apply button to create the Authorization Code object.
