The letter f and the letter v sound a lot like each other.

fan

The difference is that youre just blowing air when you make the letter f sound fffff. No sound from your throat, just air. Think of a fan blowing air.

(Have the child put their hand in front of their mouth to feel the air blowing.)

But when you make the letter v sound, you ARE making a sound in your throat, sort of like the engine (motor) in a van.

In this book, we will be reading two words to practice the difference:

Have the child put their hand on their throat to feel the sound (vibration) in their throat.
