Literature Review:
Literature REVIEW Analyzing organizational operational processes and practices systematically
can lead to improvements in quality and productivity. The manufacturing industry is under
pressure due to shifting consumer preferences and growing market demands, which have
created a comparatively more competitive environment. Productivity and quality improvement
should be undertaken by SMEs as a competitive strategy. Efficient resource utilization and good
operations management are critical for enterprises to compete in the market. Since the
beginning of time, the idea of productivity has existed. Concerning the evaluation of a system's
effectiveness and efficiency, it has been interpreted, defined, updated, and modernized in a
variety of ways. The ratio of output to input can be used to generally characterize productivity.

Organizations are starting to prioritize efficiency and quality improvement methods as


competitive tactics for small and medium-sized enterprises. The adoption of lean manufacturing
techniques by small and medium-sized businesses can lead to increased productivity, superior
product quality, and high levels of customer satisfaction. Seventeen practices must be
implemented in order to achieve these goals, according to the literature. These practices include
training, shortening setup times, complete quality management, teamwork, hiring multifunctional
employee management, teamwork, hiring multifunctional employees, preventive maintenance,
cell layout, continuous improvement, smoothing production, visual control, employee
involvement, uniform workload, supplier management, small lot size, Kanban, and
standardization. SMEs, it has been found, are not able to execute all of these practices at the
same time. A number of statistical tools are being utilized to increase productivity and quality.

The aim of this research is to highlight major issues faced by developing Countries
while they try to improve work productivity and product quality, and secondly how these
concepts can be used for improving productivity and quality.
