THEORY OF TRANSLATION &

INTERPRETING

1. INTRODUCTION
The Translation Theory course comprises three theoretical
topics, interspersed with group discussions and
presentations, as well as seven practical exercises (five
written text translations and two spoken text translations). It
falls under the Professional Module of the English Language
department and is compulsory.
This course provides:
1. Foundational knowledge of the historical development of
translation and interpretation.
2. Basic methods and skills for translation.
3. Insights into cultural equivalence in translation, aiding
students in addressing translation challenges when
analyzing texts for both written and spoken translation.
