By the end of the 19th century, multiple civil wars had erupted in the US. The existing
tension between the northern and southern states. The simmering tension was caused by
disagreement on slavery, land expansion, and state right by the northern and southern states. The
election of Abraham Lincoln resulted in seven southern states of America breaking away from
the Northern States to form the Confederate State of America. The other four states later joined
the Confederate State of America. The aftermath of this Civil war was the most deadly war in
American history (Weiss, 1966). Over 600,000 soldiers died, and others were injured. The war
was called off after the Southern States experienced massive destruction and destroyed most of

the northern and southern states that dictated the political aspect of the American people. The
factors that led to the numerous civil wars include economic interests, cultural values, and power
to control states (Weiss, 1966). The southern states depended heavily on slave labor as most of
them were large-scale. This was contrary to what was happening in the northern states that had
placed restrictions against the slave trade. Due to this, a disagreement arose, resulting in a Civil
war between those states. Over time, the northern states became more polarized against slavery.
The northern states described slavery as socially unjust and morally wrong to describe its evil
nature of slavery. Consequently, the quest for power in various states contributed to the 1860s
Civil War (History.com Editors, 2021). Some states felt the Federal government has taken
control over their states and are being denied their previously acquired power.
