PURPOSE: To introduce identification method for the Abrasion Resistant (AR) track
link assemblies for use on the medium sized bulldozers
DESCRIPTION:
1. Introduction
Abrasion Resistant (AR) track link assemblies have been registered as optional parts for
use on the medium sized bulldozers (D41, D61 and D65) being used in sandy soil work
sites where the bushings wear rapidly.
This Service News will introduce the method to distinguish the Abrasion Resistant (AR)
track link assemblies from the Standard (STD) track link assemblies by external appear-
ances.
2. Suitable applications
(1) AR track link assemblies
(a) The AR track links exhibit longer wear life of the bushings as compared with the
STD and HD track links on the aforesaid bulldozers being used in sandy soil work
sites where the bushings wear rapidly.
(b) These AR track links are abrasion resistant track links for use on lighter load work
sites and they are not all-mighty track links.
Since the bushings may break when these AR track links are used on other work
sites than sandy soil sites, use STD or HD track links on other work sites.
3. Method to distinguish the AR track link assemblies from other track link assemblies by
external appearances
HD AR (HD base)
A marking reading "AR" is being stamped on the surface
of the lower section of the master link. (Refer to the Z-
view shown below.)
• With the AR track link assemblies for spare use or with
those removed from the chassis not equipped with the
shoes, this stamping is visible.
• The external shape and dimensions are the same as
those of the HD part being indicated at left.

not come in contact with the sprocket,
identification can be made easily.)
Note: With the D61 bulldozers, the HD spec. parts, so called on D41 and D65 bulldozers,
are being used as the STD parts.
