How is an organ system formed?

Heart:

The heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood.

How does the heart work?

When the chambers of the heart relax they fill up with blood, when
the chambers of the heart squeeze they force the blood out to the
rest of the body parts.

Vessels:

The main vessels are:

Arteries: carry blood away from the heart.

Veins: carry blood back to the heart.

Capillaries: are the tiny branches of blood vessels.

Skeletal system:

The skeletal system is made from living tissues and non-living


minerals.

What is the function of the skeleton?

A skeleton protects body structures, such as the heart and lungs.


A skeleton gives the animal its shape.
A skeleton helps animals to move.

Note:

We have 206 bones.


Muscles:
Muscles are organs that can:

Contract or shorten Relax or lengthen

The muscular system contains 3 types of muscles:

1. Skeletal muscles.
2. Smooth muscles. Ex: Stomach
3. Cardiac muscle. Ex: Heart

Note: Muscles need oxygen to do their tasks

Skin: It is our largest organ.

What is the function of the skin?

- It protects our internal organs.


- It protects us from diseases.
- It keeps us cool by sweating.

Skin also has layers:

Epidermis

Dermis

Fat
