CBL

A 10 years old child presents with complaints of fever, nausea, vomiting,


abdominal discomfort & loss of appetite for last 5 days. He also gives history of
food intake by contaminated hands & passage of visible worms in stool.

EXAMINATION:
Fever: 101 F

Pulse: 90/mins

Per abdominal examination: tenderness and abdominal guarding

INVESTIGATIONS:

ESR: raised

Complete blood picture (CPC): Eosinophilia

Stool examination: brown round eggs with thick shell.

Ultrasound abdomen: ileal worm bolus

QUESTIONS:

1) What is your diagnosis?


2) Name phylum of that parasite.
3) What other parasites are included in that phylum?
4) Give life cycle of above parasite.
5) What complications are associated with that parasitic infections.
6) Give preventive measures.
7) What is Loffler syndrome?
8) How will you differentiate between eggs of parasites of above mentioned
phylum.
9) Give morphological features of nematodes.
