COURSE: MANAGEMENTAND ADMINISTRATION IN NURSING

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides students with knowledge and skills in the principles of management and
administration in nursing. It also identifies management and administrative problems during the
care of patients and how to organize resources and utilize them efficiently to achieve goals. It
will also help the students to describe the structure and roles of the ministry of health and its
agencies.
COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:


a. Explain the basic concepts and principles of management/administration.
b. Describe the structure of the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service and the functions
of each unit at various levels.
c. Discuss the various leadership styles.
d. Organize human, material and financial resources and utilize them efficiently.
e. Apply management principles in the day-to-day activities.
f. List and explain the principles of quality assurance.
g. Describe various health insurance schemes.
