Peter (an older version of the young man that snuck in the
beginning) wakes up groggily. Peter takes in the bacon aroma
with great happiness. He looks out of his door and
stretches.
We see the rat cages with one that says on a piece of tape

JAROD (CONT.)
You seem to be in a good mood.
Peter lies back on the table with his hands behind his head.
PETER
It's always nice to be woken up by
the smell of bacon.
JAROD
I don't want to get her hopes up.
PETER
I don't either.
KORA
Eat up.
PETER
This is beautiful, Kora. Damn, what

had bacon.
JAROD
It's wonderful, sweetheart. Did you

Jarod starts to turn the lock and opens the door. Dim lights

They are both still restrained.
Peter and Jarod each hold a stun gun and Peter is carrying a
home made contraption that looks heavy.
Two dimly lit bodies lay on the opposite side of the vault.
The bodies are in bad shape and bloody. They are strapped to
gurneys. Jarod and Peter begin to walk closer. Kora rolls
her wheelchair in behind them. Peter shuts the door as she
passes the doorway.
PETER
(to Kora)
Place that on the table.
Peter gets to work and injects the male with a syringe. The
body begins to slow down and becomes tranquil. Jarod does
the same to the female. Soon both bodies are still. There is
a generator near the back and Peter starts it up. He
attaches electrodes to both bodies.

Jarod and Peter look at each other. Jarod then returns his
gaze on his work.
JAROD
I don't know. But we are getting
close. The last batch had a
positive effect on the rat subject.
JAROD (CONT.)
I believe Recluse can be treated by
introducing another virus. It's not
lethal but it could cause permanent
brain damage...
Kora is uneasy about the last remark. Jarod sees this and

Suddenly the male bursts awake and rips off his left arm

pull it toward his mouth. Peter jumps to attention and gets
ready to turn on the generator. Jarod pulls at the male's
hand, trying to get it off.
JAROD
Not yet, you'll electrocute Kora!
The male pulls Kora closer and closer. Blood splatters from
the male's mouth onto her face. Kora screams. Jarod is
scrambling for a self-administration tube and injects it
into the male's body. The male begins to weaken and finally
releases Kora.

JAROD
You are fine. I already checked

Jarod touches Kora on the nose with his finger and they both

once more at Jarod and leaves the lab.
The cells look normal except for a few on the right side
that begin shaking and contaminating the other cells.

What's the matter? Getting too old.

Peter moves toward the door. Jarod and Kora smile at each
other. Jarod and Kora want to say something but no words

PETER (CONT.)
All ready here, Jar.
Peter breaks the silence. Kora and Jarod both look down.
PETER (CONT.)

All right.
Kora hugs Jarod and they part, giving each other one last
look. Peter and Jarod disappear behind the first set of
doors.
Inside, the vault door unlocks. The two gurneys are there
but the female body is missing.

Jarod and Peter are both dead silent. They slowly scan the

comes from behind a piece of equipment. The two move toward
the sound to check.
Suddenly, the male body shakes. They twist toward the noise
ready to pull their triggers. They both realize it is the
male corpse and calm down.
Right then Carol leaps from behind the equipment and tackles
Jarod. His stun gun goes flying.
She rolls off Jarod and starts to attack Peter. Peter pulls
out a knife and jams it into her shoulder. She is unfazed.
Jarod regains his balance and runs for the stun gun. Peter
scrambles from her clutches scared and angry. As she is
about to take a bite out of Peter, Carol goes stiff and
rolls off convulsing from shock. Jarod was able to get a
shot off. Peter and Jarod look at each other.

effects from the teaser start to fade. Peter gets up and
grabs Jarod's arm. They tussle. Peter reaches for a feeding
tube, wraps it around Jarod's neck, and starts to strangle

reaches his hand towards the closest object--the equipment
box--and strikes Peter with it, knocking him down.
The door opens and Jarod stumbles out with the equipment.

Jarod is heavy laden and shakes his head. Kora breaks down

The hope is to calmly present the
cure as submissively as possible.
JACK
Aren't they likely to still gun us
down?
JAROD
Yes, which is way I am giving all

believe it is 10-20 miles north
west of here. We'll head that
direction.

I shouldn't need to remind you that
it's not only the U.A. we have to
keep watch for. There are likely

Well, thanks for curing me for
this.
Jack smiles.
JACK (CONT)
One last question...
JACK (CONT)
(Indicating to the vault)
... what are we going to do with
Mr. Personality?
JAROD
With Jack and Carol coming we can
take more supplies. Should help us
reach the base. Here, put this in
Carol's...

You're going to leave me here

JAROD
Peter, you tried to kill me.
PETER
Because you were going to leave me
here to die.
JAROD
The most important thing to me is
that we get to the U.A. base
safely. If you threaten our mission
in the slightest, none of us will
hesitate to leave you behind. We
are going to need to work together
to make this work... Can we trust

I get in?
JAROD
Quiet.
PETER
I guess I don't. Instead I get to
die in this hell hole.
JAROD
I said be quiet.

They shoot around Peter. Peter flinches and holds his arms
above his head.
KORA
I got your back.
Peter makes it to the rocks but his crew are all reloading.
The infected are just about to break through. One infected
nearly throws itself on Carol when, BOOM!
The zombie is dropped. More loud BOOMS are heard from the
cliffs and zombies are picked off one by one. Soon there are
none left. One zombie with a flesh wound slowly crawls
dragging herself toward the rocks. One last "Boom" is heard
and her head explodes.
CARLOS
Put down your weapons or we'll make
quick work of you.
The crew put down their weapons and raise their hands in the

other picks up their weapons.
ENGRED
Don't even think about doing
anything funny or we will shoot you

Walk!
At the top of the ridge they meet three more scouts with
bandanas on their faces. CARLOS a large beast of a man
holding a rifle walks toward the lined up crew.
CARLOS
(commanding voice)
Take off your clothes.
The crew are shocked by this statement and don't move from
confusion.

crew. She starts with Kora, and doesn't find anything. Next
she moves to Jarod. Not only does she not find a bite mark
she rather likes what she sees. When she gets to Jack she
studies harder.
ENGRID
Where did you get these scars?
JACK
I use to be a welder. I'm afraid it
left me bit worse for wear.
ENGRED
Remove the bandage.
KORA
No.
CAROL
It's ok.
ENGRED
A knife wound, was it?
CAROL
I was in some bad company recently

He was bit but it is all healed up.
It was more than a week ago, it had
to have been.
PETER
It was just an accident. See it's
all healed up. It wouldn't have
done that if it was a bite.
CARLOS
Put your clothes back on.
All dressed, the crew and outsiders walk down the cliff face
on ropes that allow them access into a cave on the face of
the cliff.

OUTSIDER MAN
None, we'll have to try again

No, no, no...
Grim and silent. Peter looks at Jerod. Carol buries her head

toward the man.
MARK
Are we going to have a problem?

Too much risk.
CARLOS

JACK
We have to try. If you tell us how
to get there, we'll be on our way

MARK

Why do you want to go there so

JAROD

We need medicine, for Kora. The

MARK
Extermination. They want to
rebuild. To do that they believe
they must eradicate the virus.

Unless you have something that they

equations. I'm a scientist.
CARLOS
Who do you work for?
JEROD
I don't work for anyone.
ENGRED
Bull shit. We've patrolled this
area for years... you're the first

The base is about 5 miles away,
through some pretty difficult
terrain. You'll need an escort.
We'll take you there...tomorrow.

You can stay the night. Bring them

Peter is ducked out of sight and watches Jarod and Jack run

Jarod and Jack are almost to the ridge as they enter a large

Peter runs to dart back to the clearing. Jarod and Jack look

Peter runs away from the flare that he has just shot, hoping

He has a devilish smile on.
