MEMO Calculation Reinforcement of Retaining Wall Ramp 3 KM10 Type 3D
MEMO Calculation Reinforcement of Retaining Wall Ramp 3 KM10 Type 3D
1. Intro
This memo is proposed to check the capacity of Retaining Wall KM10 Type 3D (Ramp 1 Sta 0+873.69 – Sta
0+890 or Ramp 3 Sta 0+374.75 – Sta 0+388.75). Because There is some issue regarding the design of retaining
wall type 3D which is a change in the dimensions of the 3D type retaining wall design due to the non-use of the
tie rod in the previous design because it cannot be applied to the field. Based on all the issue, we have to do the
recalculated the capacity of Retaining Wall Ramp 3 type 3D using Midas software.

3. Modeling
In this model, it only uses 1 model because the difference in the height of the backfill on the retaining wall is not
far away so that the backfill load is still dominant against the truck load. The modeling performed on Midas Civil
software is as follows:
4. Load Calculation
3.1 Self-Weight (SW)
A dead load of structural elements is automatically calculated by software by providing a weight multiplier factor
of 1 according to the weight density of the material used in the determination of the load that will work on the
structure.

Vehicle Collision Load 100 kN acts at an angle of 10° with the axis of the road and acts 2.4 m long (at the top of
the barrier or 1.2 meters above the retaining wall head. Based on RSNI T-02-2005 (Pembebanan untuk Jembatan).

6. Surface Spring
In determining the approximate value of the Modulus of Subgrade (ks) can use the values in the table below, which
are determined based on the type of soil obtained from the results of soil investigations:
Table 1 Modulus of Subgrade
Based on table above, the modulus of subgrade for retaining wall is used 4800 kN/m3 (conservative assumption).
Assuming Kz has higher value than Kh then Kz = 48000 kN/m3. According to the table, ks = 48000 kN/m3 is
categorized clay soil, while on site actual is using lean concrete (Kz value still conservative).

If the value of Vs is less than 0 then the minimum shear reinforcement formula is used.
If the value of Vs is greater than 0 then the usual formula for shear reinforcement is used.
