Number : 13-10/MEMO-STRUKTUR-MCM/I/2023

Subject : Recalculating Reinforcement of Retaining Wall DS-4 ROW 30

1. Intro
This memo is proposed to check the capacity of Retaining Wall DS-4 ROW 30. Because there are several problems
regarding the design of the retaining wall, namely changing the dimensions of the right wall, which is 2.04 m high,
and adding a top slab with a thickness of 0.3 m. Based on all the issue, we have to do the recalculated the capacity
of Retaining Wall DS-4 using Midas software.

2. Cross Dimension

3. Modeling
The modeling performed on Midas Civil software is as follows:

Figure 2 Initial Design Model

4. Load Calculation
4.1 Self-Weight (SW)
A dead load of structural elements is automatically calculated by software by providing a weight multiplier factor
of 1 according to the weight density of the material used in the determination of the load that will work on the
structure.

4.7 Truck Load and UDL & KEL (LL)

The load of the truck is the moving load. Software used as an application of the element program to make it easier
for the load to move to get the maximum inner force due to the load of the truck wheels.

5. Surface Spring
In determining the approximate value of the Modulus of Subgrade (ks) can use the values in the table below, which
are determined based on the type of soil obtained from the results of soil investigations:
Table 1 Modulus of Subgrade

Based on table above, the modulus of subgrade for retaining wall is used 4800 kN/m3 (conservative assumption).
Kz has higher value than Kh. Assuming Kz is used 10 x Kh, then Kz = 48000 kN/m3. According to the table, ks =
48000 kN/m3 is categorized clay soil, while on site actual is using lean concrete (Kz value still conservative).

The shear force to be resisted by the shear reinforcement The shear force to be resisted by the shear reinforcement

If the value of Vs is less than 0 then the minimum shear reinforcement formula is used.
If the value of Vs is greater than 0 then the usual formula for shear reinforcement is used.
V s bottom = -375 kN V s abt = -376 kN
Vs bottom = min shear reinforcement Vs abt = min shear reinforcement
