SECTION A

Q16. Glenmark management outlined its long term strategy and thoughts on medium term prospectus. The management
expects its US pipeline to drive growth over the next few years while special initiatives should come to forefront from
2020 onwards. Company focused on respiratory, dermatology and oncology products development globally, while
tactically looking at other segments relevant to different markets. Glenmark expects faster approvals and better
quality launches to drive 15% to 20% revenue growth, despite potentially higher business erosion due to increasing
competition. Several interesting products are lined up for launch namely Zeta, Azelaic acid and Epiduo.
On the basis of given information about Glenmark Limited, answer the following questions.
a) Identify the main objectives of the company.
b) Identify and explain the function performed by the managers of Glenmark.

SECTION C
(LONG ANSWER QUESTIONS)

Q17. Rajveer works as a plant Superintendent in carpet making factory. In order to complete the export orders on time,
the production manager asks him to make the workers work overtime whereas the finance manager is strictly
against this practice because it will increase the cost of production. Moreover, Rajveer feels that since the company
is manufacturing handmade carpets as well as machine made carpets, there is a lot of overlapping of activities.
Therefore, there should be two separate divisions for both wherein each division should have its own in- charge,
plans and execution resources.
In context of the above case,
a) identify and explain the principle of management which is being violated.
b) also identify and explain the principle of management that Rajveer feels should be implemented in the factory.
Q18. Sigma Ltd. is a large company manufacturing electric motors. The company has several departments – Production,
Marketing, Finance and HR. Mr. Shashank, CEO of the company has set the target sale of 10 crores in a month. To
increase the sales, the marketing manager, Mr. Ishaan insists on offering 10% discount to customers. But the
finance manager, Mr. Mohak does not approve such discount as it would mean loss of revenue. Because of dual
subordination, the sales manager, Mr. Anshik could not achieve the sales target.
a) Which concept of management is Sigma Ltd. lacking? Explain it.
b) Explain the principle of management being overlooked by the company?
c) Describe the challenges faced by Sigma Ltd. due to conflicting managerial decisions and suggest possible
solutions to resolve these conflicts to achieve the sales target set by the CEO.
