In this unit you have examined the meaning of entrepreneurship and the
characteristics of entrepreneurs. You have also met people who possess
many of the characteristics of entrepreneurs but are reluctant to take the
risks involved in owning their own business.
The Assignment (essay)
 Choose an entrepreneur from your ethnic or local community, or
wider community.
 That person may be of any gender and any age.
 Why do you think that this person is an entrepreneur? What
characteristics of entrepreneurship have you identified?
 Research and report on the contributions that person has made to
their local community and to society through their business venture.
 Describe the venture and include when it began, how it started and
what needs or wants it satisfies.
 Has the business venture been successful? Why? Why not? You
MUST use your own words as I will use a program to check. Your
work will NOT BE MARKED if there is evidence of plagiarism.

Format of your essay

possesses and a brief example of where these characteristics were
used.

through the business venture has made to their local community and
to society.
6. In Paragraph 3, describe the venture and include when it began, how
it started and what needs or wants it satisfies.
7. In Paragraph 4, has the business venture been successful? Why?
