Before you start
Unpack and carefully check the delivery before the installation to make sure that all the
required items are available and undamaged.

Procedure

1 Carefully check the contents of the delivery.

6 Lifting IPAA
Information on safe lifting of IPAA unit.

f WARNING! Risk of personal injury


The radio unit is heavy.
Additional personnel or lifting equipment might be needed when the MAA unit is moved,
unpacked, or hung. In addition, follow any local regulations applicable to the installation.
Make sure the unit bracket screws are torqued properly when brackets are lifted
attached to the module.

7.1 Installing base module onto a pole


Instructions for installing a passive antenna on a pole

Equipment preconditions
You need the following:
Passive antenna
Upper and lower mounting bracket
Tools:
Torque wrench
13 mm socket
19 mm socket
19 mm crow foot spanner

Procedure

1 Assemble the upper and lower adaptor plate on the base module by using eight M8x25
screws, eight flat washers, eight split washers, and eight M8 nuts.

2 Tighten M8 nuts to torque 25 Nm (18.44 ft-lb).

4 Tighten first four M12 nuts to torque 50 Nm (36.88 ft-lb).

7 Assemble the upper and lower rear bracket on one of M12 screws by using four flat
washers and eight M12 nuts.

Upper and lower mounting bracket


Tools:
Torque wrench
19 mm socket
19 mm crow foot spanner

Procedure

1 Assemble the upper and lower mounting bracket on the adaptor bracket using four
M12x40 screws, four flat washers, and four M12 nuts.

2 Tighten four M12 nuts to torque 50 Nm (36.88 ft-lb).

3 On the upper and lower bracket assemble four M12 nuts.

4 Tighten four M12 nuts to torque 35 Nm (25.81 ft-lb).

5 Open the upper and lower rear bracket from one M12X250 screw each. Keep two
washers and four M12 nuts in a safe place for mounting on a pole.

6 Lift the AEQE_I unit on to the pole.

For more information about lifting, see Lifting IPAA.

7 Place AEQE_I unit next to a pole so that the bottom edge of the MAA end cap is
between the top edge and the bottom edge of the PAA end cap.

Support top-module vertically to align correct clearance between end caps. Check
dimension between brackets to ensure clearance.

8 Cabling the IPAA


Once you complete the installation, connect the Nokia Airscale MAA unit according to
the cabling principles.

• Connect the grounding cable.

g Note: Install the grounding cable according to the local regulations. For example,
use an M8 bolt in Europe or 2 x M5 bolts in USA (needs to be provided locally).
Tighten M8 bolts to 20 Nm (14.75 ft-lb) and M5 bolts to 4.3 Nm (38 in-lb).
