3. If a number of two digits is divided by the product of its digits, the quotient is 3. When 18 is added to the
number, the digits of the number change their places. Find the number.
Solution:
Let, the units digit be y and, the tens digit be = x
⸫ The number = 10x + y
10x + y
According to the question, =3

 10x + y = 3xy ......(i)

10x + y + 18 = 10y + x
 9y − 9x = 18
y−x=2
⸫ y = 2 + x ......(ii)
Putting the value of y in (i) we get,
10x + x + 2 = 3x(x + 2)
 11x + 2 = 3x² + 6x
 3x² − 5x − 2 = 0
 3x² − 6x + x − 2=0
 3x(x − 2) + 1(x − 2) = 0
 (x − 2)(3x + 1)=0
⸫ x = 2, since fraction is not acceptable
So, y = 2 + 2 = 4
The number = 10  2 + 4 = 24 (Ans:)

together but after 4 minutes, pipe A is turned off. What is the total time required to fill the tank?
Solution:

B can fill the full tank or 1 part in = 20 minutes
