I am writing to apply for the position of Human Resource Manager at your esteemed organisation, which
was advertised online in a job board.

Human resource experience in areas of talent sourcing, organisational restructuring, performance


management, talent development, employee relation and engagement among others are the skill set
and experience that would benefit you as I could serve in the role of Human Resource Manager.

For example: people communication and compliance to labour acts are a must in the fast-paced world
of talent management and I can prove myself to be an effective human resource practitioner.

I am tasked to lead engagement programmes with employees to produce effective results and creation
of a conducive and safe environment to ensure productive efficiency and quality work performance
while ensuring the company’s sustainability and relevancy.

I have enclosed my CV to support my application. It shows that I would bring important skills to the

• Organisation Restructuring and Succession Planning. For example: I have twenty six
years’ experience implementing actionable and practicable procedures on talent development
strategies in more than six highly competitive industries such as palm oil, property, industrial
chemical, airline among others.
• Interpersonal skill. I currently managed a team of two assistant managers and three
executives and together we act as one to address issues pertaining to grouses and benefits of
employees.
• Who Moved My Cheese. In my time at Raya Airways Sdn Bhd, TSH Resources, Bayer
(Malaysia) Sdn Bhd among others, I have imparted this practical action role playing procedure
for new employees to be committed on the job and ready to accept a new change and a new
culture.

1) Achievements @ Raya Airways Sdn Bhd (An airline company)


a) Conducted mutual separation programmes to downsize operational teams in order to meet
targets of changing business operations such as cessation of two B727s, one B737 and
one B757 aircrafts.
b) Performed performance appraisals, performance improvement programs, coaching and
tracking progress of under-performing staff.
c) Provide training for entrepreneur skills to get employees ready for their next chapter in life
after venturing out from the company.
d) Organise Human Resource Policy into 2 segments: Organic policy and Fixed Policy.
Organic policies are policies that can be amended as and when critically required such as
Covid-19, recruitment, on-boarding, etc. Fixed policies are policies that required revision
every three to five years such as salary structure, leave, insurance etc.
e) Conducted domestic inquiries to provide just cause for flight crews, Engineering team,
Security team, Safety team, Ground Operations team and office support staff such as
Finance, Procurement, Administration, IT and Legal teams.

f) Led and coordinated implementation of Key Performance Indicator for Management and
operations teams.
g) Negotiated and executed insurance coverage for loss of employment for staff under
separation programme.
h) Handled organisation restructuring exercise – realignment and close gaps between job
description and actual work performed, enhanced job re-training.
i) Organised and set up Key Performance Indicators for operational and non-operational
employees and departments.

2) Achievements @ Perdana University (A medical university)


a) Conducted recruitment drive with Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, Dublin for new
Professors and Associate Professors.
b) Implemented Key Performance Indicators for teaching and research parameters.
c) Analysed and closed gaps for student complaints against syllabus taught and lecture
presentation.
d) Re-organised structures for deans, professors, associate professors and lecturers based
on faculties and research fields.

3) Achievements @ TSH Resources Berhad (A palm oil company)


a) Carried out job description revision exercise for Mills and plantations.
b) Studied gaps of job performed and coordinate with Training Academy to update and
revitalise training syllabus to enhance safety and compliance to mill and plantation
regulations and laws.
c) Re-structured and standardised organisation charts for all mills and plantations in
Kalimantan Timur, Kalimantan Tengah and Sumatera to achieve productivity, oil yield
targets and business strategies.
d) Carried out performance appraisals and performance improvement programs to develop
staff through enhanced training to produce super achievers.
e) Draw out and kickstarted succession plans for Managerial levels to succeed Heads of
Department with a road map of 5-year plan and 10-year plan to monitor milestones
achieved on targets of management skill such as strategic thinking, active listening,
empathy, ability to impact clear messages and directions to staff, creativity and ability to
inspire others.
f) Created Three Days in a Planter’s Life (3DPL). This program requires shortlisted
candidates to take three days of their lifetime to join us for:
g) 1st Day: Walk the talk - Get to know of our culture and operational way of life.
h) 2nd Day: Brainstorming – Gain understanding by discussing and questioning our
employees.
i) 3rd Day: Showtime – Present to Management of what has been learnt.
j) Organised and set up Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for operational and non-
operational employees and departments.
k) Implemented attainable KPIs targets for Finance staff, HR staff, Procurement teams
operational staff etc such as store manager, store clerk, cashier and seafood handlers.
l) Conducted analysis to close gaps of performance against productivity and profit targets.
m) Embarked on organisation restructuring to realign and close gaps of job description with
actual work to meet company objectives and to realign training objectives to increase
commitment and motivation for daily productive performance actions.
n) Assessed and revised compensation packages to attract and retain staff.
o) Defined and realigned performance goals for operational teams.
p) Created policy and guidelines to prevent loss of cash at store and pilferages of
merchandised items.
q) On job training – Take video for training purposes – Video of new employees working
together with experienced employees during events such as warehouse sales, year end
sales etc.

based various critical scenarios. Compiled as case study for training and tests.
s) Staff retention and employee engagement programs - Management team will visit
employees’ parents who stay in other states to let the parents give video message for their

gift from them for their sons or daughters.

4) Achievements @ Tropicana Corporation Berhad (A property developer)


a) Conducted “Who Moved My Cheese” project to jumpstart performance of under-
performing staff who have been complacent in their daily duties with no motivation to meet
business targets and for new employees to be ready to accept a new culture and new
workplace and work productively.
b) Carried out DISC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness & Conscientiousness/Carefulness)
program to identify performers and provide training based on their level of performance
and seniority.
c) Implemented succession plans for Managers and Assistant Managers to succeed Senior
Managers and Directors as Heads of Department by drawing short-term and long-term
achievement targets in aspects of leadership, management of subordinates and projects,
allocation of duties and responsibilities etc.
d) Negotiated for increase of value in benefits for Employee Group Hospitalisation and
Surgical Insurance such as hospital supplies and services, surgical fees, emergency
accidental out-patient treatment and day care procedure.

5) Achievements @ Trans Elite Group Sdn Bhd (A heavy engineering equipment company)
a) Drawn and execute manpower requirement proposal to Ministry of International Trade &
Industry (MITI) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) to recruit and
engage foreign Chinese national crane experts to impart technology transfer for
ZOOMLION, a China based manufacturer of heavy industrial equipment such as mobile
and tower cranes, excavators, low loaders etc.
b) Revision of salaries benchmarked against industry standards for staff such as crane
operators, mechanical engineers, finance etc.
c) Participated in Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP) project to digitalised work procedures and
alignment to other departments’ procedures especially finance and operations team
functions.
d) Underwent a course and passed as a qualified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2000 Quality
Management System to execute internal audit for company procedures and
documentations compliance.

6) Achievements @ hospitalia activHealth (M) Sdn Bhd (A hospital company)


a) Created new job opportunities for staff based on operational requirements.
b) Conducted training for managers on handling of customers and patients, cash
management, fear of the unknown, Conversational English Communication, etc.
c) Conducted “Who Moved My Cheese” training to motivate under-performing staff who were
not showing improvement in their work performance and provide a role playing action
procedure for new employees.
d) Minimise cost by direct approach to secure placement of houseman and doctors from local
universities and retired Singaporean doctors to join Penggaram Medical Centre in Batu
Pahat, Johor.

7) Achievements @ Bayer (M) Sdn Bhd (An industrial chemical company)


a) Attended a 360-degree competency program for young executives and managed to secure
a career in Human Resource performing duties related to investigation of malpractice and
mismanagement.
b) Conducted domestic inquiry of Business Group Manager who under reporting of
RM3million of product candidate for deletion due to Nipah virus and culling of pigs. He had
accepted a product incentive of RM10,500 but the said product was not being sold to
customer.
c) Participated in “Who Moved My Cheese” project and designed a practical action role
playing procedure program based on this project and act a trainer during new employee
orientation program to kickstart the readiness of new employees to accept a new change
and a new culture to perform well in their respective departments.
