REPORTED SPEECH

Reported speech functions to deliver/convey (menyampaikan/melaporkan)
what other people said.

b. The things that you have to remember is when changing a quoted speech
into a reported speech, the tenses change (tenses nya berubah).
Quoted speech:
Santi said, “I go to the mall every weekend.” (simple present tense)

Reported speech:
Santi said that she went to the mall every weekend. (simple past tense)

Now, we only focus to qouted speeches of simple present tense and simple
past tense.

The pattern of simple present tense:

(+) S + V1
(-) S + do not/does not + V1
(?) Do/does + S + V1 + ?
Example:
(+) She eats meatball.
(-) She doesn’t eat meatball.
(?) Does she eat meatball?

The pattern of simple past tense:

(+) S + V2
(-) S + did + not + V1
(?) did + S + V1 + ?

(-) We did not/didn’t ride bicycle last morning.
(?) Did we ride bicycle last morning?
